With Quantum of Solace coming out November 14th, Sony’s relationship with 007 is going to be paying dividends.

A limited edition licensed 007 products including a VAIO(R) notebook computer, a Reader Digital Book and Micro Vault(TM) USB storage media which will all be available in U.S. Sony Style retail stores and online at sonystyle.com.

An exclusive, limited edition VAIO TT notebook comes emblazoned with a 007 logo on the palm rest and a matching leather protection case. Only 100 units will be available and each unit will bear a serialized number.

The Special Edition Bond bundle for the Reader Digital Book features an embossed cover with a 007 logo and coupon codes for free downloads from the Sony eBook Store of Ian Fleming’s novels Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

An exclusive 007 USB Micro Vault, in 8 or 16GB capacities, comes pre- loaded with the Quantum of Solace movie trailer and bonus contents.

It’s hard enough for pilots to land a Boeing 727 without the air-traffic controller falling asleep in the tower.  An Olympic Airlines aircraft coming in from Athens and another plane for Slovakian Airlines had to wait for more than a half an hour over the Aegean sea.

They tried several times to get a hold of the control tower, but no one was responding.  What was the hold up?  Well, apparently the woman had overslept and the secondary control service helped the pilots to land.  She should be fired for such behavior, but she’s getting away with a few days suspension.

McLaren and Mercedes-Benz have officially unveiled the SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S today.  It’s got all the goodness of the 722 but with an open-top (images below).  Like the Final Series Arnage by Bentley, this car will also only see 150 units of it being produced.  The first day of 2009 will be a good day.

Performance wise, the hand-built 5.5L V8 AMG engine that produces 650-hp with a maximum torque of 604 lb-ft. will be running the show on the 722 S.  It’s mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission that allows for a 0 to 62 mph sprint in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph.

Mercedes-Benz also added a stiffer suspension, lowered the body by 10 millimeters at the front and back, improved the handling dynamics and added 19-inch lightweight aluminum wheels with red brake calipers.

We’ve been watching Mad Men on AMC since it first came out, heck we’ve got a copy of the first season on Blu-ray. It had us stuck to the screen from the first episode, but don’t take our word it.  It took two of the most sought-after prizes at the Emmy Awards the other night, and they did it with a viewing audience of about 2 million people per episode. The ratings are low now, but they were low for the Sopranos as well when that first came out.

We enjoy watching Mad Men, but it’s not just because of the story line. It’s not because Don Draper’s the man when it comes to his job, women, and family.  It’s because of what he wear. The show’s costume designer gets more recognition from us than the writers in our opinion.  It’s not easy recreating the 60s episode after episode with timeless detail.

Life on Madison Avenue comes to life through the drama on AMC, and the style percieved through the show has influenced many designers, and even our own personal wardrobes.  We’ve got a few shots of Don Draper and company in their finest attire below, so be sure to take notes.

Style by Mad Men:

Seldom does a political figure come along that blurts out whatever is rolling through his peanut brain.  We’re saluting Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari for the suave statements he made to Governor Palin at the UN meetings in New York.

On Wednesday, President Zardari met with the Republican Vice-President nominee, steps the McCain is taking to give her more “foreign policy experience.” Before the President of Pakistan walked in, she talked about how “honoured” she was to be meeting him.

Once Zardari came in, they greeted each other and gotten on with the festivities.  The President said, “Now I know why the whole of America is crazy about you.”  Palin was pretty much dumbfounded and replied with, “You are so nice, thank you.”

But wait, it gets better. An official aide to Zardari did not help matters much when he requested the two leaders to keep shaking hands for the benefit of the cameras. “If he is insisting,” he said pointing to the aide, “I might hug”.

He must’ve gotten some high fives from his entourage, but we would personally like to give him a digital high five.  President Asif Ali Zardari, we salute you for keeping it real.
