Patented in 1933, Posture Foundation insole technology set a new standard in sneaker comfort. It really took off just after a few years and became the basis for the brand name, “PF Flyers”. In the decades following its inception, PF Flyers went on to influence generations, becoming the go-to sneaker for an array of sports and activities. The first ever collaboration between a sneaker company and a pro player, PF and Bob Cousy, led to the company making a string of classic court designs. Those designs were retrieved from the archives, as the famous 1956 Bob Cousy All-American canvas sneaker along with a host of other iconic styles have been reissued to the current generation as part of the “Archival Reissue” collection, which went live a little over a year ago.
The S/S 2010 collection builds on a longstanding reputation and brings to us kicks that are comfortable, affordable, and above all, timeless.

Seattle-retailer Blackbird has officially introduced their first line of private label shirting. In hopes of delivering something truly special, they took the idea of using an all natural hand-dyeing process that would produce one-of-a-kind finishes specific to each shirt and therefore each individual wearer. The process was extensive but worthwhile in the end for Blackbird and its customers alike. They took high-quality 100% cotton oxford cloth and cut it into a trim fitting shirt with a slim collar and birch wood two-holed buttons. The shop worked directly with reputable Northwest dye masters to piece together a palette of moody grays and olives, rich reds, and dusty tans and greens. The result is tremendous as the shirts really fit well into an everyday-wear ensemble. This is looking to be a homerun for Blackbird’s first at bat in such an endeavor.
The shirts will be hitting the Blackbird shop soon and will fetch $189 a pop.

This morning, Gant opens the doors to its first standalone Rugger shop in the West Village. The 700 sq. foot space is at 353 Bleecker St and presents a vintage/industrial feel with much inspiration from its New Haven, CT factory. The dressing room’s made to look like an office, table lamp and all, while on the floor, you’ll notice worn wood shelving and vintage furniture. Rugger designer Christopher Bastin put it best saying, “We’re not about creating vintage. We’re about modernizing everything that we loved about Gant’s history for today’s guy.” If you get a chance today, head to the new shop, welcome the guys to the neighborhood and take a look at the wonderful lineup of madras plaid shirts, oxford button-downs, cable knit sweaters and varsity jackets.

Inventory informs us of the recent interior redesign of the Unis flagship store here in NYC. “Kyle Garner from Sit and Read Furniture teamed up with Unis to re-fit their Nolita home base. The combination of left-over Unis fabrics and Kyle’s classical furnishings have resulted in a perfectly unassuming interior. Clean lines and a great arrangement for a nice open space and great garments; it’s what a clothing store should look like.”

The Philanthropist briefcase is part of Apolis Activism‘s Uganda Project. The independent label took this classic Original Briefcase by Filson and worked to develop a canvas in Uganda to create opportunities for cotton farmers and to be a part of a new cotton initiative with invisible Children. The idea was to adapt this style to create something relevant in a new color option with a purpose behind the product. The final product was hand crafted in Seattle by Filson CC. Each piece is embroidered with their trademark red stitch, the sign of relief and an icon for all global citizens committed to quality and change.

From Sperry comes this impulse buy canvas deck sneaker. I personally believe you can never have enough sneakers and adding a simple one like this to your closet is a no-brainer. For the coming months, you’ll want kicks that provide a little bit of ventilation, especially if you decide to go the no-sock route. If you’re in the market for a new pair, or even if you’re not, we suggest you give this pair a look.

With the spring season now in full swing, it’s time you pull out your go-to pieces. Atop the pile should be atleast one seersucker shirt, and we think Club Monaco may be the right place to go in case you haven’t already picked one up. Their super-soft cotton seersucker shirts are back and they look exceptional.
