Tretorn Fall 2010 Preview

Tretorn Fall/Winter 2010 Preview

Tretorn has been known to deliver some great footwear in seasons past, but this year may be the Swedish label’s second-coming since their tennis-shoe fame of the seventies. For F/W 2010, the modern outdoor brand goes back to basics with a heritage-inspired lifestyle collection that utilizes warm textures and much attention to detail. Signature pieces like the Strala and Skymra have been winterized for the season, and the Skerry Vinter boot is back and lined with faux fur.

After the jump is just a small offering of what Tretorn has in store for the fall. From what we’ve seen, there’s a strong transition in-store as well. The shop on Spring Street has always been inviting but now they’ve also begun to house products from other Swedish brands like Cheap Monday and Fjällräven, just to name two.

Timo Weiland Cognac Perforated Leather Bowtie

Timo Weiland Cognac Perforated Leather Bowtie

Now, before we dive in, I want to make it clear that I’m not saying you should click the link and buy this bowtie right this second. This one is meant to get your creative juices flowing and also shed light on one really unique piece. We’ve never seen one like it to be honest. The cognac finish on this Timo Weiland bowtie is great and the adjustable sizing with a button closure is much welcomed. But perforated leather? Really? Although we’re all for ingenuity, there’s a limit to everything. Not sure if this bowtie hits that threshold.

In Stock: Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2010

In Stock: Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2010

Portugal retail shop Por Vocacao has taken stock of some new pieces from Neil Barrett for S/S 2010 and they’re definitely worth a look. “Finely striped shirts have shredded collars, short cuffed sleeves and pocket square details. In the sartorial tradition, the lightweight cotton jacket has its sleeve buttonholes left deliberated closed to allow shortening. Pleated shorts are made from a dapper linen fabric and a cotton and lyocell mix is used for the double layered, skull print sleveless tank. Hence that lyocell, is the most eco-friendly of the naturally regenerating fibers.”

Gant Rugger’s Varsity-Inspired Jackets [S/S 2010]

Gant Rugger's Varsity-Inspired Baseball Jacket [S/S 2010]Gant Rugger Varsity Jacket [S/S 2010]

This season’s collection from Gant Rugger brings back some distinct memories from high school. Their baseball and varsity jackets are two standouts with a heavy dose of prep-school influence. Here’s what Seattle-based retailer Blackbird has to say about the pieces. “Gant Rugger’s lovingly worn Baseball Jacket and sharp warm up style Varsity Jacket may look practically vintage, but both are slimmed up with a form-fitting cut that’s contemporary all the way. It’s the good old days done up neat for these modern times.”

Burberry April Showers Trenchcoats and Jackets [S/S 2010]

We’re quite familiar with Burberry‘s lineup of trench coats but their “April Showers” collection for Spring 2010 features more than those beauties in new colorways. Selectism‘s attention was turned to the stow away jackets which are ideal for sudden changes in weather. “Their simple front finish and packability make them appealing for those days when weather changes like girlfriends.” Their words, not ours.

Hundred Dollar Bill

The New Hundred Dollar Bill

Outside the United States, the $100 note is the most widely circulated and most often counterfeited denomination. The blue 3-D Security Ribbon on the front of the new hundred dollar bill contains images of bells and 100s that move and change from one to the other as you tilt the note. The Bell in the Inkwell on the front of the note is another new security feature. The bell changes color from copper to green when the note is tilted, an effect that makes it seem to appear and disappear within the copper inkwell.

Cutler and Gross 0913 Black Frames

Cutler and Gross 0913 Black Acetate Frames

Graham Cutler and Tony Gross founded Cutler and Gross over four decades ago when they opened their first shop in London’s Knightsbridge. Now, the duo’s timeless pieces are recognized throughout the world. We’ve personally been fans for quite sometime and love the simplicity and originality the label brings to the table. The 0913 frames are a great example of what Cutler and Gross can deliver. The acetate frames are really unique, as we have yet to see such a seamless blend of new= and old-school design. There’s no logo, and they don’t need one; the designs speak for themselves.
