We got a little taste of these 30′s style life preserver vests back in June when we covered Garbstore’s Fall 2010 lookbook but now London’s finest has actually taken delivery of the special pieces made in collaboration with Penfield. They’re available in a black or red shell, both of which are cream/white on the inside. The toggle closure is really the kicker for this piece as it makes the vest standout from the pack.
Look for the vests to hit Garbstore shortly. More images after the jump. (more…)

From Cali-based denim kings Self Edge comes their lookbook for F/W 2010, entitled “Zero Half Measures”. Hypebeast tell us, “More so than just capturing product, the series of photographs documents the classic American motoring culture of which much of Self Edge’s creations are based upon.” The lookbook features special appearances by Max Schaaf of 4Q Conditioning, Dave Tanimura of Chili Dog Customs, and plenty of other notables.

There are plenty of peacoats out there and we’ve mentioned a few others in recent weeks. The Kaiser peacoat by Hyden Yoo caught our attention due to its melton wool shell and the double breasted closure. The dark navy color is definitely a plus as well as it breaks away from the black peacoats we’re accustomed to seeing out in the wild.

One of our favorite boots from last fall is back with some minor enhancements. The details are a plenty on Tretorn‘s Kipporone hiking boot, as rich leathers are blended with boot inspired hardware details and artisan stitches. The interior’s partially made with wool for insulation and breathability. To sweeten the deal, Tretorn’s tossing in two pairs of laces with each pair of Kipporones — one tonal and one with red details.

So, your shoe game is set for the cold winter months ahead but what about your socks? Fact is we too often neglect the essential accessory. Sure, some of our boots could protect us without any sucks but why not walk comfortably? Scott-Nichol socks look great and are pretty resilient also. The tweed socks are made in England of a Shetland wool/nylon blend and they come in a variety of finishes, all blessed with some snowflake print to keep your mother appeased during the holiday season.

London’s Shoreditch district recently welcomed a new retail shop for men to their blocks. Hostem is quite different from London’s other offerings in this spectrum as it looks to bring together an eclectic mix of brands and styles to really deliver something the city’s seldom seen as of late.
The interior is broken down into essentially three rooms, each bringing along its own shopping experience. The first room springs up neutral chalky tones with concrete plinths to display footwear and also house the Hostem essentials. You’ll find cool digs from the likes of The Elder Statesman and Damir Doma in this area. the second room is a more intimate space, with low swooping ceilings and carefully upholstered walls. Ann Demeulemeester and Rick Owens are placed alongside MA+ and Julius as well as plenty others. The third space is a concept unique to the store as it serves up as an area in which visiting designers will be invited to take up residence on a short-term basis.
Other standout labels to be offered at Hostem include Visvim, Creep, Mastermind Japan, 3.1 Phillip Lim, as well as Odyn Voyk and Stussy.

Another fine piece from Woolrich Woolen Mills’ fall collection. The Upland jacket is directly inspired by the pieces from the WWM archives, and is fitted plenty of details for us to admire for the months to come. The wool shell comes in a rich and vibrant cobalt blue finish. The notched collar with buttoning lapels, right chest patch pocket, the understated right mid buttoning torso pocket and black leather elbow reinforcement are all welcomed enhancements to an old school piece.

Aston Martin will be debuting a drop-top version of the V8 Vantage N420. The luxury automaker stated, “The Aston Martin V8 Vantage draws inspiration from the company’s experiences at the Nurburgring 24-hour race.” There’s much to love about this beauty like the wider sills with carbon fiber splitter, side skirt and diffuser but maybe you’ll be attracted mostly to the 10-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels complete with gloss black finish, black mesh vents and ‘Graphitic’ tailpipe finishers. Drop 59 lbs. from the original, give the buyer an option to get the Aston Martin ‘Race Collection’ paint schemes and send you on your merry way pushing top speeds of about 180 mph. Boy does that 4.7L V8 do some damage.
