Another season, another solid offering from Umit Benan. His Spring 2012 collection is filled some amazing product and from looking at these shots, we can see where the designer pull much of the inspiration. Old school meets new school, a changing of the guards of sorts. We’ve learned an infinite amount from the generations before us and it shows in the way we carry ourselves. “Third Generation Italians” tells the story with timeless suiting with a modern twist. The pieces feature a blend of lightweight fabrics and a fit both you and your grandfather can appreciate.
Incase and French label A.P.C. have teamed up for a few accessories for your MacBooks and iPad 2s. There’s a protective sleeve for the 15″ MacBook Pro and a book jacket for the iPad 2, with both being available in two designs. One of the designs is actually exclusive to the Asia market. This capsule collection combines the nuanced look and feel of the finest selvage denim from Japan with superb device-driven design. The clean, minimalist design of the A.P.C. Book Jacket and A.P.C. Sleeve evoke the essence of simplicity, while premium denim and leather trim offer an exceptional look and feel.
When you’re buying shoes as expensive as visvims, maybe it’s best to talk to those guys about maintaining your latest investment. Lucky for us, the Japanese label offers up some authentic shoe care product in the form of their Shoe Care Kit and Suede Care Kit alongside a series of shoe brushes. Look for them at visvim retailers including DLX.
A.P.C. has opened the doors to its seventh retail shop in its hometown of Paris, this one being situated at 23 Rue Royale, steps away from some of the French capital city’s finest retail destinations including Chanel, Loro Piana and Moncler. The A.P.C. store was designed by Laurent Deroo, the architect behind London’s Dover Street Market and Hong Kong’s Icehouse. Look for the St. Honoré shop to house A.P.C.’s full line of men’s and women’s collections alongside shoes, accessories and more.
The S/S 2012 collection from rag & bone is looking solid in these shots with plenty of plays on color and cuts. The collection is California-inspired but will appeal to a few different points of interest ranging from surf to Hollywood. Look for long coats, cropped trousers and a good mix of knits to make their way to stockists and rag & bone shops next spring. (via sxh)
To showcase their Spring 2012 offerings, COMUNE went to Salton Sea in Cali and shot this video. The looks are more casual than anything but there’s plenty to be had for all. Some of the selection includes a stark selvedge denim shirt-jacket, a few plaid button downs, cashmere v-necks, military-inspired boots and slimmed chinos to bring the line full-circle.
Valet introduces us to Ribbed Tee, makers of 50/50 poly cotton undershirts that take inspiration from Towncraft 50/50 undershirts. The deadstock vintage tees still fetch a ton of money on forums and eBay and were a staple of department stores in the 80s and 90s. Ribbed Tee’s founder, Mike Schwartz, recently introduced their Retro Fit V-neck that’s made in the US from a soft, loose knit 50/50 jersey material and feels really broken in out of the packing. The fit’s trimmed without being clingy and features a generously cut collar that’s easy to hide under your button down.
MW drops the third installment in ACL’s Made in Italy Tour, this time giving us a look inside the workspace of Isaia located on the outskirts of Napoli. Isaia is a family-run business as it was founded in 1957 by Enrico Isaia and is now helmed by the designer’s grandson Gianluca Isaia. The majority of folks that work in production are second or third generation tailors, with the craft being in their blood. As for the factory, it’s a two-story building that’s “tucked away in an unmarked alley with a large gate.”
