A short while back, I had the opportunity to sit down with the folks at Gear Patrol to check out what awesome stuff they’re cooking up. Come to find out, an iPad app was in the works. The design was extremely unique and was one of the few designs we’ve seen that brought the published content to light in a different way than its browser-friendly counterparts. Top to bottom, GP made everything from the eyes of the reader, giving us as fans the opportunity to really enjoy reading and finally giving us a solid reason to browse the site from an iPad. The app’s seamlessly integrated with Instapaper, Twitter, Facebook, and much more and even features Viewfinder, a section dedicated to videos.
We recently gave you a sneak peek at what you can expect from Hiroshi Awai’s CREEP for Spring 2012 and here’s an extended look at the styles for the season. The pieces, as always, are well-cut and impeccably crafted. The fabrics and patterns utilized for S/S 2012 are next level with plenty of wearable product to be had.
With NYC Market behind us, we’re gearing up for the next round of trade shows in August. The (capsule) show in New York has had an amazing brand roster over the past few years, with brands that have been able to come into the market and showcase product that’s fresh and wearable as well. They’ve forced other shows to change (for the better, we think) and have really put the industry in a promising position.
This time around, the show gathered some of the best pieces and crafted this Spring 2012 lookbook. The shots are well-styled and feature a few brands you should know by now and some that you will soon enough. Brands featured include Schott’s Perfecto brand, WoodWood, Mark McNairy, Norse Projects, Riviera Club and a few more.
Designer Jackie Villevoye has introduced a new neckwear brand to the market, giving us more options in a constantly-evolving segment. The pieces are well-made and wearable with a subtle touch of hand-embroidery here and there. The materials and artists are sourced from india.
From leather goods maker Calabrese comes their Napoli bag, a modern-day version of the classic doctor’s bag. It comes in a rich cognac leather shell and is just the perfect size for a weekend getaway. The double top handles and detachable strap really help this bag standout as do the silver accents and embossed logo patch on the front.
New York’s The Windmill Club have dropped images from their Spring/Summer 2012 collection, giving us a much-welcomed look at the tie brand’s offerings for next summer. The pieces are made from 100% dead stock silk and are given the proper attention while being made. All the products are handmade here in New York City with availability being extremely limited, at times to as few as six pieces of each style. The folks behind The Windmill Club also cooked up a video for the S/S 2012 collection so be sure to check that out after the jump. (via the189)
From la Maison for Fall 2011 comes this amazing hard leather phone case. It’s detailed with shearling interior and is hand made in Italy and will definitely protect your phone from any dings or drops.
With the highly anticipated Watch The Throne album releasing on August 1st, Jay-Z and Kanye West have dropped this ten-minute documentary giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how this collaboration came to life. Look for the digital version of Watch the Throne to drop on August 1, 2011 and the hard copy to release on August 5, 2011.
Though we haven’t gotten shots of the entire lookbook just yet, here’s a sneak peek at what Uniqlo’s +J line will carry for its final run. The olive pea coat is a must have and would be a great way to see this collaboration off right. Well-fitting knits and warm fabrics seem to be leading the way for fall and with good reason. Expect this one to be a hit from the launch.
We’ve attached shots from the women’s campaign as well.
Unionmade of San Francisco has taken stock of a few pieces from Tender’s Fall 2011 collection. Though not a whole lot of stuff available just yet, these specific items will definitely get you through the late summer and early weeks of the upcoming fall season. The label continues to experiment with natural dyes and intricate construction processes. The Type 900V Jacket and Type 130 Slim Jeans are back, this time dyed with Mexican Logwood. There are few knits in the mix as well including the Type 350 Elephant T-shirt. If you’re looking for accessories, Tender’s dropped a few of those as well.
