Introducing the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S600. It’s a fine blend of the German automaker’s claim to deliver the very best in terms of both technology and design. Their NAIAS press conference took the covers off this beauty and showcase a powerful sedan that packs a twin-turbocharged V-12 under the hood. Expect as much luxury and style we’ve seen in the S550 up to the S63 AMG but with more power and some exclusive tech features to take things next level.

Performance output is recorded at 523 horsepower and 612 lb/ft of torque. Also featured is a fuel-saving stop-start system with shifting being managed by the 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic. Standard features are in abundance with the flagship sedan. MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension with ROAD SURFACE SCAN and the Driving Assistance Package all come as standard with the latter comprising of Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist autonomous driving, PRE-SAFE Brake with Pedestrian Recognition and PRE-SAFE PLUS.

For 2015, all S-Class models will also get a head-up display as standard as well as a touchpad controller and the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS safety system. The system detects any emergency ahead and can automatically slow a vehicle from speeds of up to 124 mph should the driver fail to respond to initial warnings. At lower speeds, the system can also bring the car to a halt at speeds of up to 31 mph should it detect a stationary object or pedestrian in the road ahead. It can also prevent rear-end collisions at speeds of up to 25 mph.

Another feature we probably could’ve used last week when temperatures drop to below zero is the S600’s windshield heating system designed for owners who experience such excruciating temperatures. It works in conjunction with the air-conditioning blower and is said to be capable of clearing an iced up windshield in practically no time at all.

Look for the Mercedes-Benz S600 to hit showrooms this spring.
