GE and Android Homme have teamed up to recreate the Moon Boot as we embark on the 45th anniversary of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon. The mission back in 1969 included support from NASA and various organizations such as GE, who alone provided 6,000 workers and engineers. They helped with providing ground testing lunar modules and even designing advanced materials gear that allowed for safe travel to and from the moon. The original boots worn by astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins featured GE silicon rubber, which helped the astronauts to moonwalk in extreme temperatures and conditions. THE MISSIONS moon boot sneaker as they celebrate the possibilities of design and function unlocked by advanced materials. This moon boot features stabilized carbon fiber, thermoplastic rubber, hydrophobic coating and even 3M Scotchlite reflective material. If you want a pair, don’t think it’ll come easy as only 100 pairs will be available for sale, exclusively on JackThreads.com Sunday, July 20th at 4:18pm, the exact time that the Apollo 11 lunar module touched down on the moon. Each pair is priced at $196.90, in tribute to the year the moon landing took place, 1969.
