Last night Porsche kicked off “The Sound of Porsche”, a multi-sensory pop up that’s set to call 446 W. 14th Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District home for the next three weeks. The entire experience is a blend of brand stories, virtual driving, and even a design challenge for fans to partake in. It all starts with the media stations at the front of the space that turn it into a modern record store. There are several custom records and playlists created by Porsche for you to check out as you slap on a pair of noise-cancelling Bose headphones. In the lineup are “Electrifying Performance” and “One of Us” which feature Porsche racecar drivers Mark Webber and Patrick Dempsey. Go past this and you land on the holy grail of showings – The Sound Lab Virtual Drive Experience. Powered by Bose, the glass-enclosed sound room features an all-new matte-white 911 Carrera 4S Coupe. The setup showcases visuals from a choice of three drive routes along with impressive sound mapping so you can see and hear what it would be like to drive this car in that environment. And if those two stations weren’t enough, you can jump to The Design Corner in the back where there’s a giant wall-to-wall chalkboard that you can use as your blank canvas as you draw out what the sound of Porsche means to you, then upload your designs to social media along with the hashtag #soundofporsche. Designs will live in the space and the winner of the best design will get a trip to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Talking about incentive.

The Sound of Porsche will be open to the public starting today through October 5th from 10am to 6pm. After New York, The Sound of Porsche will also be showcased in London and Shanghai.
