Todd Selby recently took a trip to shoe and bag designer Christian Louboutin’s Home and Studio in Paris, France. The imagery provides a glimpse into the life of the designer, showcasing things such as the interior design of his home to an outstanding footwear collection that’s brought him to international acclaim. The NAIAS in Detroit brings the unveiling of Chevrolet’s 2014 Corvette Stingray, the first Corvette to bear the Stingray moniker in over 40 years. Though this new ‘Vette is a looker, all the action is where it should be — under the hood. The Corvette Stingray features a LT1 small-block V8 engine which shells out 450 horsepower and 450-lb. of torque, with a 0-60 mph time under four seconds. So not only is this new Stingray got a ton of power, it’s got a more aggressive and refined design than its predecessor. The interior features aluminum and option carbon fiber detailing and all for a sub-supercar price.
From Milan comes looks at Ermenegildo Zegna’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The label is known for well-crafted suits and that’s definitely the case here. Expect impeccable pinstripes and “sportified” accents infused into the more formal garments. The palette’s filled with shades of grey reminiscent of asphalt, steel, cement and granite. The tones are brightened with flashes of white and deep green. Classically cut coats, made from feather-light spazzolino, the prized alpaca fabric launched by Agnona in the Seventies, were showcased alongside double-breasted and elongated suits, immaculate shirts with refined collars and matching cummerbunds that raise the waistline.
Zegna‘s latest lineup of accessories are ideal for brief trips and feature a bold character thanks to compact shapes and usage of a bicolor metal. The footwear’s made with hand polished calfskin just like the bags and come in a range of styles including travel bags, hold-alls and computer bags reinforced by handmade piping and fitted with handles and interior compartments.
There aren’t many good looking iPad Mini sleeves/cases on the market and so we’re glad that Herschel Supply Co.’s tossed their hat in the ring with the “Cypress Sleeve”. Each well-fitted sleeve is made from durable materials with inspiration taken from hard cover notebooks and fitted with an elastic closure. The sleeve features a full fleece interior, quality stitching around its hem and front logo embroidery. The Cypress Sleeve comes in a few different finishes including woodland camo, desert camo, and navy.
GQ’s officially announced that Beyoncé will grace the cover of the magazine’s February 2013 issue. The issue is special for not only having Queen B on the cover but also because it’s dubbed “The 100 Sexiest Women of the 21st Century” issue, bringing praise to some of the most beautiful women to have walked God’s Green Earth. Expect Meghan Fox, Kate Upton, Mila Kunis and many others. This is just the cover shot but tomorrow, GQ‘s releasing ALL of their photos of Beyoncé, the first of their 100 Sexiest Women of the 21st Century.
Alexander McQueen presented their Fall 2013 collection in London, giving us a lineup that’s filled with some really unique detailing. The presentation itself featured models with plastic masks and slicked hair, giving an early 1900′s type of vibe and the pieces followed suit. Relaxed suiting with pinstripes and velvet detailing dominated the runway show with hints of polka dots and other standout patterns tossed in the mix as well.
Another presentation from London Collections: Men is Hentsch Man and their Fall 2013 offerings. The vibe for next fall looks to be a welcomed mix of laid-back California living and the chic tailored flair of European suiting. The result is relaxed suiting with single color geometric prints and monochrome block patterns. Also in the mix are a wide of complimentary items such as tees, knitwear, and double-breasted blazers.
British menswear label Lou Dalton opened the London Collections: Men shows with a well-designed range that’s balanced between workwear and fine tailoring in some of classic winter shells. Included in the mix were staple items such as Double-breasted coats in Raw Shetland wools, with welcomed details such as contrasted back panels and pocket flaps. With the Northern Isles of Scotland being the root of inspiration for Lou Dalton’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection, it’s no surprise the offerings also featured red tartan and large-scale green and navy plaid finishings. Some workwear-centric pieces included all-in-one jumpsuits, woolen gilets with technical fabrics and oilskins.
With the holidays now behind us, I know everyone’s looking forward to the hot summer days. Oh, what’s that, it was in the 80′s this weekend in Miami? Well, then it’s good Onia’s dropped their Resort 2013 collection. Ahead of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show comes a look at the facelifted 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe. The refreshed front end now features single-piece headlights and a more aggressive fascia. The quad-headlight look isn’t completely lost as there are unique LED running lights that visually split the headlights into two. New LED taillights and a reshaped rear fascia are tossed into the exterior enhancements. The interior’s got minor changes such as a slight redesign of the steering wheel and incorporating Direct Select lever instead of the console-mounted shift lever from the previous years. Tech upgrades include the Stereo Multi-Purpose Camera, Active Parking Assist and a 360-degree camera for a bird’s-eye view when parking.
