iPhone OS 4.0 Delivers Multitasking, iBooks and App-Switching

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 [Multitasking, Unified Inbox, iBooks]

For anyone that missed today’s major unveiling of the Apple iPhone’s 4.0 OS, we’ve got a quick breakdown. Some key enhancements to look forward to include the highly anticipated multitasking feature. The masses have been asking for it and now Steven Jobs and Co. will deliver. You’ll be able to run multiple apps at the same time, like using Skype to make a call and getting directions from TomTom’s GPS navigation app. You can run other apps like Pandora and check your email, without having to worry about the song going on pause. This feature will only be limited to the iPhone 3GS, while the 3G and Edge versions will be left out in the cold. Sucks for those guys.  (more…)

Leica D-LUX 4 Leather Carry Case

If you’ve got a Leica D-LUX 4 digital camera (pictured below), then without a doubt, this is the perfect case for it. It comes in a natural brown finish and features a shoulder or wrist strap for added convenience. Not many solid cases out there these days. Most are either too bulky or easily get lost in the crowd. The embossed logo on the front is big but that just adds to the cool factor.

BOOK for iPad

BOOK for iPad

Two gifted artists in Minnesota are currently hand-making these cases for your future iPad. The casing is a bit more modern than Twelve South’s Bookbook for the MacBook, but BOOK is the only case of its kind for the iPad, and it’s definitely a job well done. Much detail has been put into the crafting of this sleeve case, with extra attention given to all aspects of the fine accessory. On the inside, a tailored 100% wool felt sleeve provides a snug fit for your device when BOOK is closed with the integrated velcro edge. The natural German felt is a sustainable and renewable material that has an innate durability and timelessness.

BOOK is also available for the Kindle, Kindle DX, as well as the 13″ assortments of the MacBook and MacBook Air.

Victorinox’s ‘Un-Hackable’ Secure Pro USB

The Victorinox Secure Pro USB Drive [Un-Hackable]

Victorinox has dropped thumb drives before but the Secure Pro drive is the first from the company that’s supposedly, “un-hackable”. Victorinox actually offered a £100,000 prize to a team of “professional hackers” if they could crack the drive during the company’s launch event and they failed miserably. So in a world filled with skilled underground IT professionals, how is it that this pro team wasn’t able to get the job done? Well, it’s probably the drive’s combination of AES256 technology and fingerprint security, which is paired with a self-destruct mechanism that irrevocably burns the CPU and memory chip if there’s any attempt to force the drive open.

The USB drive is available in the UK for capacities of 8GB to 32GB, with prices ranging from $75 to $270. No word on when they will be made available stateside. (via Realwire)

Sprint 4G: HTC EVO Packs Android 2.1, Answers to Dying Company’s Prayers

Sprint 4G: HTC EVO Packs Android 2.1, Answers to Dying Company's Prayers

Sprint‘s first WiMax/4G phone has been unveiled and no one is surprised it’s by HTC. What is surprising is this beauty’s power and versatility. The Touch HD2 was a looker and had a Snapdragon processor but didn’t pack the data speeds to keep users happy. The HTC EVO is special as it’s got the aesthetics, features and the horses to really be Sprint’s savior. AT&T and Verizon can keep comparing maps, but the fact is Sprint’s had the strongest data network for quite sometime. Now, with the company promising to get their 4G to nearly 120 million people by year’s end, this is the phone of 2010. So far.

Highlight features include a 4.3-inch screen (480×800 TFT LCD), 8MP camera, as well as a front-facing camera 1.3MP camera capable of HD video recording. Under the shell is a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Google’s sleak 2.1 version of the Android OS. Oh, but wait, there’s more. The Evo is also fitted with 1GB of built-in storage, 512 RAM, HDMI output as well a kickstand for easy viewing of that 720p video. HTC’s latest creation will also work as a hotspot for up to eight devices, even your iPhone or Droid. Damn these guys. With the Nexus One and HTC Evo both coming to Sprint, other carriers might want to start paying attention.
