The Brooklyn Circus has teamed up with Red Wing Heritage to shed some light on one of the bootmaker’s most iconic designs – the Iron Ranger. Iron Ranger boots were built with a double layer of leather over the toe to provide miners in Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range with an extra measure of safety. The heel pocket, a boot feature designed to provide extra support, was moved to the outside of the boot. This design eliminated a seam and provided a smooth and comfortable one-piece surface on the inside of the boot. It was a solid blend of design and function, hence the reason the boot’s so popular to this day. The BkC and Red Wing cooked up these styled looks featuring Red Wing Heritage styles 8111, 8113, and 8114. More looks below.

Eight years after starting in a Harvard dorm room, Facebook has filed for its initial public offering. The company’s seeking to raise $5 billion in hopes of becoming one of the largest tech IPOs we’ve ever had the opportunity to witness. Investment bank Morgan Stanley will act as lead underwriter, with Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan and others to take secondary positions. There are some raw figures from the filing that are worth noting — 845 billion monthly active users that dish out 2.7 billion Likes and Comments per day. Beyond that, the company made $3.71 billion in 2011, mostly from advertising. Ad revenue rose dramatically from $764 million in 2009 to $3.154 billion in 2011.
Mark Zuckerberg must be proud but we’re certain his work isn’t done just yet and neither is Facebook’s. The man behind the social network has done some interesting things over the years but seems like all the hard work’s finally paid off. Details are trickling out but below we’ve got the visuals from the SEC filing, though if you want to see the several-hundred page document you can see that for yourself here. Shares are expected to be begin trading in May.

Michael Williams of A Continuous Lean recently took a trip over to London for a tour of the MR PORTER Headquarters in Shepherd’s Bush. It’s a massive space, one that houses the site’s entire editorial staff, retail departments and a handful of design studios to keep things running smoothly at all times. The meeting spaces scattered throughout the building are well thought out and are extremely inviting. The fact that such a magnificent space is housed atop a mall in London reminds us that large office spaces are extremely limited in London. Not many areas can keep up with MR PORTER’s growth so this spot is perfect for them now and as they continue to build. Read more over at ACL with some of our favorite shots below.

New York designer Thom Browne continues his collaborative efforts with California-based eyewear manufacturer, Dita.
