With Double RL & Co. now being available through Ralph Lauren’s online shop, expect to see more and more visuals for the one of the company’s best-kept secrets. Since its inception, RRL has been fairly inaccessible but now that the gear’s available online and we’ll be seeing some solid looks for the offerings as well. Billy Reid delivers once again with some classic Southern flavor. The small, concentrated dosage this time around is well-designed and delivers on everything we’ll be needing once those warm months hit again. Included in the mix are tan linen pants, double-breasted bone-colored cotton suits, dazzling pale seersucker, ribbed shorts with saddle shoes, and a lot of chambray. (Photos via GQ)
One of our favorite shows from this season’s New York Fashion Week comes from General Idea. The looks were fabulous but we were really impressed with the overall presentation. The bright colors and amazing styles walked down the runway with Colette Magny’s “Melocoton” playing in the background blending the timeless appeal of the collection with that of the classic French singer. Here’s what Selectism had to say: “We like the orange and turquoise in the upcoming collection, but also the more toned down khaki and black and navy checker pieces. Look at the pieces individually and you will find some great every day outerwear and knitwear to accent your outfits.”
From SUPER sunglasses come these limited edition “49er” frames for Fall/Winter 2011. The design is reminiscent of classic explorer sunglasses while the thin metal skeleton allow for a more modern and timeless design. The premium acetate covering gives it a sharp look and falls in line with the historic models from other brands. There are four colorways available now in limited numbers online and at select stockists but we aren’t even focusing on any of the others past the all-black frames shown above.
Here’s a look inside French retailer Surface To Air’s new flagship store in New York’s Soho neighborhood. The 2,300 square-foot space was made in collaboration with famed architect Federico Masotto and will carry a full lineup of product from Surface To Air’s tremendous lineup as well as their collaboration jackets with Kid Cudi.
If you haven’t heard yet, Nike’s dropping the MAG sneaker, one you might remember from the 1989 Back to the Future II movie starring Michael J. Fox. Nike announced that 1500 pairs of this shoe will be auctioned on eBay, nikemag.eBay.com, with all net proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The auctions have begun and will end on September 18 with 150 pairs to be posted on eBay per day for 10 days.
As we gear up for the winter months ahead, we’re pulling out a few Fall 2011 lookbooks to give you some inspiration and deliver shots of what will be available in the weeks ahead. Monitaly’s one of our favorite menswear labels right now and their upcoming collection is phenomenal, especially in the outerwear segment. The coats are well-made with several wearable styles up for grabs. Be sure to check out the rest of the lookbook below.
Though fairly young, Uniforms for the Dedicated has dropped some amazing product for the upcoming fall season. The lineup’s more experimental compared to years past as it features more relaxed fit outfits and a much welcomed dose of warmer fabrics such as wool. Other key components include organice jersey and utilization of recycle cotton across a wide range of pieces such as winter parkas and knit blazers.
As New York Fashion Week has officially kicked off, one of the first presentations to take place (off the runway) is that of New York designer Steven Alan as he showcased his Spring/Summer 2012 collection for both men and women. The looks were amazing with a good mix of simple and wearable pieces from shorts to shirts and suiting.
New to MR PORTER’s stable of fine designers is New York’s Alexander Olch. The neckwear designer has had a major influence on the industry over the past few years and his Fall 2011 offerings are looking as solid as ever. The plaid wool ties come in some great finishes with matching handkerchiefs to boot.
