With the winter weather finally here, it’s time to pull out the snorkels and parkas for that added layer of protection. The folks at Alpha Industries sent one of their N-3B Slim Fit parkas over to us to try out and we have to say we’re glad they did. It features a flight nylon outer shell with contrasting nylon lining and polyfill for a thicker layer between you and the elements. The slim fit cut coupled with the longer length give way to added insulation and a effortless look.
We’ve always been fans of Alpha Industries and military-worn outerwear. the N-3B is one of our favorite parkas on the market and this collaborative effort with uniform experiment adds some minute details to a classic jacket. Beyond the ribbed cuffs, everything has stayed the same as the co-branded parka looks to preserve as much of the authentic design and construction as possible. This N-3B will drop on October 29th through select uniform experiment retailers.
Uniform Experiment joins forces again with Alpha Industries for this take on the 1950′s L-2B flight jacket. The L-2B jacket, shown here in navy, has a 100% nylon exterior and also comes in black and khaki. It features ribbed elasticated cuffs and hem, a left sleeve pocket, and Uniform Experiment insignia patches on both arms.
Alpha Industries is known for their military-inspired gear, but what many aren’t aware of is the detail and authenticity of these products. The US Dept. of Defense recruited Alpha to revamp its military jacket and the rest is history. The jet age took flight shortly after which required the company to develop products that kept up with the needs of our soldiers and they didn’t disappoint. As better fabrics were developed and tested, Alpha made better jackets for the troops – better designed, better produced, and more reliable. Alpha garments were ranked as warmer, more comfortable, more durable and designed to meet any climatic challenge. Since the mid-1960s, Alpha has continuously manufactured the M-65 Field Jacket, and they’ve produced virtually every MA-1 Flight Jacket used by US Air Force, Army and Navy pilots.
With such a rock-solid reputation, the highlight of Alpha Industries’ Fall/Winter 2010 collection is unarguably the outerwear lineup. Plenty of heavy-duty shells are being offered, including a Gore-Tex parka in a camouflage finish. The kids’ collection caught our attention as well with a flight jacket and peacoat, both of which make us wish we were really young all over again.
