iPhone 2.1 Update will bring less crashes and dropped calls, better battery life, and faster syncs

Is this what we’ve been waiting for or will the same thing that happened with the 2.0.2 update repeat?  Only time will tell, that’s for sure.  Firmware 2.1 is set to release this Friday, and with the nice round numbers, it seems that it’s going to be an extensive update.  The update is suppose to give us less dropped calls, less crashes, better battery life, and faster syncing with iTunes, something that’s plagued the 3G iPhone since it was released.

Of course, we still won’t be happy, because what we want is copy and paste capabilities, maybe multimedia messaging, and true GPS navigation.  We’ll have to wait for firmware 2.8.9.2.5.4 for that we’re guessing.

Apple’s $79 in-ear headphones

There was a lot of talk today about the new iPod Touch as well iTunes 8, but maybe this slipped through the cracks for most of you.  Apple’s also releasing new in-ear headphones that have the mic on the cord, just the way we like it.  Each ear’s got two drivers – a woofer and a tweeter.  The headphones even come with three earbuds to make sure they fit nice and snug.  But only $79?  it’s a pretty good deal, and the masses will go out to buy them because they open doors for iPod users.

Apple unveils funnest iPod ever: includes speakers, Nike+

Today kicked off Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event and boy did it rock.  They’ve just unveiled three new iPod touch models that are hitting stores today. They’re priced more competitively at $229 for the 8GB, $299 for the 16GB, and $399 for the 32GB, saving you about $50 off of each version.

They’re a bit thinner and the backs are similar to that of the iPhone 3G.  There will be built-in speakers, but no mic.  That’s not a major issue, because they will work with new Apple headphones that have a microphone on the cord (sold separately for $79).

All of the new models will come with 2.1 firmware, which is releasing soon for anyone who has the current-model iPod Touch.  Nike+ is built in, so you just have to buy the transmitter or sensor and you are all set to go!

Oh, and did we mention the new models are more eco-friendly?  Yep, they’re constructed with arsenic-free glass and highly-recyclable components.  Now, we definitely have to get one.
