Band of Outsiders presented their Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear collection with musician Devendra Banhart earlier this week at The Chateau Marmont. The collection features an incredible mix of wearable product from Scott Sternberg and team. Inspiration came from a 70s “prepster” Mick Jagger trapped in a hotel room that, according to Sternberg embodied a “cool, sexy, easy, youthful vibe.” In the lineup, expect to see everything from patterned sleepwear to shorts and chinos. Lightweight fabrics and summer tones are seen throughout the collection, while hoodies and blazers are delivered in leather.
Frank Ocean caught the interest of Band of Outsiders founder and creative director Scott Sternberg, so much so that the label commissioned the R&B artist to showcase their Spring 2013 collection. The Polaroid-style lookbook is on par with delivery of lookbooks from past seasons but the tux Frank wears is exceptional and everything we’ve come to expect from Band of Outsiders. Mr. Sternberg was behind the lens as they shot the lookbook oustide the Los Angeles Times Building.
This is in fact the first batch of photos from the lookbook featuring Frank in a Band of Outsiders peak lapel tux in the SoCal sun. Expect the rest of the lookbook to be released throughout the rest of the week via their Tumblr and Instagram accounts.
Band of Outsiders has released looks for their upcoming Fall 2012 collection, this time commissioning actor Josh Brolin to sport the goods. The lookbook was shot at The Sunset Ranch Hollywood in Los Angeles by the label’s designer Scott Sternerg, bringing forth a Western theme to the fall lineup. More images below.
Ed Ruscha is featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook for Band of Outsiders. Shot on location at Ruscha’s studio in Los Angeles, CA on vintage Polaroid film. The shots are plenty and shed light on some of the key pieces from the spring season’s offerings. Look for Scott Sternberg to deliver some fine suiting as well as a few casual pieces like an amazing leather jacket, a mac coat, and shirting as well.
Here, we’ve got shots from Band of Outsiders Fall 2011 lookbook which features Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. The product on display is really quite promising with some of our favorites being the quilted nylon windbreaker in olive, printed oxford cloth pullover shirt as well as pieces from BOO’s ongoing collaboration with Sperry. The wool and alpaca shawl collar cardigan is definitely a standout as well and when paired with the label’s well-fitting chinos, it’s hard to want to wear anything else.
From Band of Outsiders comes this Italian-made double-breasted blazer in a caramel cord shell. It’s classic with an edge and the wide-gauge cord really sets it off, as do the elbow pads, mottled brown buttons and grey striped lining. It’s double vented and also features a few inside pockets. The fall season ahead just can’t come soon enough.
Band of Outsiders have crafted a great shoe in this Oxford. The rich tan leather is contrasted by cream laces, while detail is provided by the elegant wingtip pattern on the toe. The stamped lettering on the footbed reads ‘this is a Band of Outsiders shoe’. The label’s labeled each shoe ‘left’ and ‘right’ as well to avoid any confusion in the morning. Taking it one step further, the color of the soles differ, with red being for the right and blue for the left.
Surely the highlight of this year’s Pitti Uomo, Scott Sternberg and Co. at Band of Outsiders really swung for the fences with their Spring/Summer 2012 presentation as they payed homage to West Side Story. The presentation was Broadway-esque with modern American clothing featured on models and real dancers. The gear itself looked amazing as well as we’ll be in for a treat come next spring. There’s plenty of lightweight cottons being utilized throughout the line and the outerwear and suiting are definitely atop the list of recipients.
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of knit ties. This striped knit tie from Band of Outsiders is great for warmer seasons. Single striped knits are great because of the subtle intrigue that the stripe offers. True to Band of Outsiders form this tie is slim. Rock it with a navy blazer, white oxford, and colored trousers or rolled chinos for a rakish prep look.
