For the most-anticipated movie of the year to fall off the big screen and into our living rooms for such a price, we just had to let you know.  When The Dark Knight hits Blu-ray on December 9th, we think you’ll be much better off pre-ordering it through Amazon for $24.95 (with free shipping) instead of coughing up the MSRP of $35.99.

The 2-disc Blu-ray set will include the 153-minute feature film on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. On top of that, it’ll even include some BD-Live-enabled content that’s yet to be announced, as well as a digital copy of the film.

Director Christopher Nolan, the man behind the success of The Dark Knight, is on vacation currently (much deserved), but the buzz surrounding who he’ll cast for the third Batman is still going on.  During an interview with MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, actor Michael Caine spilled the beans into who will play the villains for the next installment.

“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’”

“Done it again” is right.  Many were questioning if anyone could top job Jack Nicholson and his portrayal of The Joker.  None of this is for certain yet, but if we’re going to believe anyone, it would be Mr. Alfred Pennyworth.  What do you think?  Are you excited about these picks as much as we are?

With “The Dark Knight” surpassing $400 million this week, there’s already talk of what DC has in store when the movie hits Blu-ray.  Not too long ago, Sony introduced a feature for Blu-ray dubbed “BD-Live,” which creates endless possibilities for the platform.

Shrek 2 broke the $400 million mark in 43 days, but that’s no match for our favorite super hero.  “The Dark Knight”  surpassed that mark in 19 days with $405.7 million, breaking yet another record.  The most highly anticipated of the franchise, it’s done wonders for DC and for the movie industry as well.  (more…)
