Adam Yauch a.k.a. MCA of The Beastie Boys has passed away at 47 after a three-year battle with cancer. Yauch, a self-taught bassist and vocalist, was the eldest of the trio, which also included Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Adrock” Horovitz. After dedicating a cancerous tumor in a salivary gland, the band cancelled scheduled concerts and delayed the release of an album. It was only a month ago when The Beastie Boys got inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

MCA is survived by his wife, Dechen, and a daughter.

NOWHERE LTD./A Bathing Ape have produced this commemorative action figure set of The Beastie Boys. The figures were made for the release of their “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” music video and each 11.5″ piece comes in a 16″ x 12″ metal box accompanied with other goodies to sweeten the pot. All proceeds are split up into two children’s charitable cancer organizations — Pablove Foundation and Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

It’s filled with some tremendous cameos including Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Rashida Jones, Ted Danson and plenty of others. Originally released in the summer of ’89, almost everything rode on Paul’s Boutique. At LA’s Gallery 1988, there is a Beastie Boys related artshow called Under the Influence that has left us in awe. Some very Beastie Boys moments are displayed in captivating art, including scenes from Sabotage and Intergalactic.
