From Levi’s Vintage Clothing comes this reproduction of a 1960s Levi’s jacket inspired by military style bomber jackets worn by pilots in WWII. The 100% suede sheepskin shell comes in a rich majolica blue finish and features contrast lining to make it standout even further. Cotton ribbing can be found on collar, cuffs, and hem.
LVC hits the Levi’s Archives to reproduce garments from bygone eras. For Spring 2013, Levi’s Vintage Clothing pays tribute to the golden era of the American Hot Rod and the sharply dressed car owns and spectators who sported Levi’s. There are some must-have pieces throughout the lineup including a suede version of the classic military style bomber jacket worn by pilots in WWII. LVC’s rendition comes in navy blue, is medium weight, has a short regular fit, and plenty of fine detailing such sa ribbing on the collar, cuffs and bottom hem as well as contrast lining.
In addition to releasing the collection of Hot Rod-inspired Levi’s jeans and Sportswear, the Brand teamed up with Los Angeles-based filmmaker and curator Aaron Rose to make a short film about the origins of Hot Rod culture in Southern California back in the early 1950′s. Rose pulled from hundreds of hours of painstakingly researched archival footage ranging from old “juvenile delinquent” movies and Life Magazine drag-race films to home movies unearthed from personal collections. He dug deep in research and the result shows the effort. Rose delivers a striking and fast-paced film that captures the style and attitude of the uniquely American post-war subculture which continues to influence the worlds of fashion, music and mechanics to this day. From Dolce & Gabbana comes this red-brown pre-worn leather bomber jacket in a fitted cut. This may very well be one of our favorite jackets of the year as it’s got some fine detailing and the worn-in leather and finish is exceptional. The jacket also features ribbed wool cuffs and hem and is made in Italy with the finest care.

Another solid piece from Levi’s, this time from their Made & Crafted collection. This bomber jacket comes in a waxed cotton shell and features khaki lining. It’s a perfect casual throw over for the warmer months ahead but don’t count it out when it comes time to get dressed up.
The folks over at Por Vocacao have this wool bomber jacket from Swedish label Acne. It’s lightly padded with ribbed details in a dark blue shell. Other details include a removable front closure tab, cord pullers at side pockets and the classic bomber style patch pocket on the left arm sleeve.
From Filson comes this wind and water-resistant jacket. A great everyday piece, it features classic styling and lightweight Cover Cloth construction. The attention to detail is tremendous as it’s fitted with a moleskin collar and knit cuffs.
