To celebrate the opening of the Maison Kitsuné shop at The NoMad Hotel, Alexander Olch and Kitsuné have teamed up for a limited line of silk ties. Alexander and Masaya Kuroki, one of Kitsuné’s designers, formed a friendship while presenting their respective collections in Paris at the same showroom. Both designers are involved in fashion and art (Alexander is also a filmmaker, while Masaya is involved in the music industry) and enjoy working in diverse mediums. Alexander and Masaya share a mutual respect for timeless design, and the tie collection explores the idea of the classic New York man.
The collection consists of four neckties ($150 each) and two bow-ties ($110 each) in 100% English silk woven at a seven generations-old mill. Numbers are fairly limited and are offered exclusively at the Maison Kitsuné shop at the NoMad Hotel in New York.

The fine folks at Fine and Dandy have dropped new ties and bows for the fall, and the mix of patterns and fabrics throughout the offerings is really worth checking out. Some of the materials utilized include wool, wool/silk blends, silk, cotton and even corduroy. The best thing is that they’re all handmade here in New York City and priced accessibly between $45 and $54. Shop the goods at Fine and Dandy Shop.

Pierrepont Hicks commissioned artist Jonathan Bartlett to illustrate their Autumn/Winter 2011 neckwear collection. Animals and insects are styled up in mugshot form and give a free-spirited vibe to product that’s normally seen as a formal outpost. Self-expression at its finest, folks.
Selectism tells us Bartlett’s illustrations will also be on sale at the artist’s site in October while Pierrepont Hicks’ F/W 2011 collection goes on sale tomorrow.

Selectism turns us to Lanvin’s neckwear offering for Fall 2011 which happens to be filled with some amazing neckties and bowties. The long end of the necktie is finished in a wool while the short half is made from silk in a striped pattern. The bowties are really well-done as well as they feature some wool detailing atop the silk shell.

Here’s another great looking set of neckties from Alexander Olch’s S/S ’11 offerings. The ‘Scratch’ necktie comes in a few different finishes but the raw wool base doesn’t disappoint. The red tie with thin cream stripes looks amazing and will work really well this season. The other two options — a cream tie with thin blue strips or one with thicker navy stripes — are really promising as well.

For this editorial, Por Homme teamed up with up-and-coming online catalog, Two Inch Cuffs. Our teams worked closely together to ensure the contents of this piece were fitting of our independent yet fairly similar voices. Much thanks to Ruben Hughes of Two Inch Cuffs. Photography by Paul Wax.
We had the opportunity to meet New York based designer Alexander Olch a few months back and all eyes were on the man’s necktie. He was sporting a raw silk tie that was due to drop this season and now that his Spring 2011 collection is out at select stockists, we wanted to shed light on some of our favorite pieces from the lineup. The raw silk material is unique as not many designers have taken their stab at it and also because the texture allows it to be worn year ’round. The Olch has been downright flawless ever since he entered the industry a few years back and this season’s collection reaffirms this.
The raw silk neckwear comes in both bowtie and necktie varieties.

Inventory has taken stock of a pair of bow ties from Japan’s Beams Plus. The camo fabric bow tie is not as overbearing as we’d expect it to be and really works well as a summer accessory, primarily because it’s lightweight and really brings the military movement full circle. The tartan fabric bow tie is much more versatile and is definitely a print that we don’t ever see going out of style.
Both pieces are made in Japan with the utmost detail. We don’t expect the Stockroom to have these for long though as they’ll probably fly out the door once folks get a wind of this.

The folks over at Fine and Dandy Shop have taken stock of some new neckwear for the fall, all made right here in NYC. The fabric choices for their wool ties are outstanding to say the least and the items are really priced to sell. We don’t see well-crafted ties (and bowties) priced this low often, so we’ll take one of each, thanks.
Check out the wool ties here and the bowties here.

We recently got a special delivery from New York-based Graham Withers, a fairly young tie company started back in 2007. The duo behind the brand, Paul Hanan and Dave Roma, started out in their Brooklyn apartment designing t-shirts and as their style evolved, so has their lineup. The production is handled by a seasoned veteran with over 40 years of experience in the business. Their fall collection consists of neckties as well as bowties, all of which are looking tremendous. We checked out the Montagne up close, and we have to say, the versatility is much-welcomed.
Graham Withers delivers great products and the price points are quite reasonable. That coupled with the high-quality craftsmanship and fabric choices really makes the brand worth checking out. Seriously.
