Closer Look | Diesel VETKR by Monster Headphones

Closer Look | Diesel VETKR by Monster Headphones

Monster recently gave us the opportunity to give one of their latest designs, a collaborative effort with Diesel. The VEKTR takes much of what we know about the Beats-making headphone brand and throws it out the window, along with the mixed reviews of past headphones. These ones having a backing of a reputable clothing label and feature a design that’s equal parts functional and futuristic. Win-win. The multi-planar, tri-fold design can be easily collapsed to fit your backpack and pull out with ease with a detachable triangular cable for tangle free use. The quality of listening is higher than what we’ve seen in past designs, a sign Monster continues to focus on research and innovation even while reaching widespread success. We’ve put together a short video (below) for your viewing, giving a closer look at the headphones and showing off some of the VEKTR’s finest aesthetic details.

The Diesel VEKTR headphones can be had now via Monster.

Closer Look | Acura NSX Roadster from The Avengers

Acura NSX Roadster from The Avengers - Inside Line

Inside Line gives us a closer look at Tony Stark’s Acura NSX from the forthcoming flick, The Avengers. Though it looks like the Acura NSX Concept that’s been making the auto show appearances as of late, it’s a re-envisioned 1991 Acura NSX under the new design, interior and all. How else was Acura going to out-show Tony’s R8 from the Iron Man movies? If you’re wondering why Inside Line says this beauty ranks right up there with the bat-mobile as one of the most impressive movie cars ever built, check out the video below.

Road Test | Bentley Continentals at Aspen Fashion Week

Road Test | Bentley Continentals at Aspen Fashion Week

We were recently invited out to Aspen, Colorado by the fine folks at Bentley for an experience of a lifetime. While all the Aspen Fashion Week festivities were in full swing, Bentley took us out to a secluded snow-covered ranch right outside of town. We hopped in the passenger seat of the Supersports Convertible ISR (Ice Speed Record) while Bentley Driving pros took the 631-hp beauty across a snowy meadow, specially created for the winter driving experience. We were swinging around corners with ease and it took us back a bit because the Continental’s all-wheel drive system is one of the British automaker’s strong suits but not the conversation that’s normally had. No matter the weather, we’re accustomed to talking about the car’s stunning looks and its luxurious cabin with hand-crafted leather, book-matched wood veneers, and knurled stainless steel. That’s changed.

Closer Look | UGG Hannen Boot

UGG Hannen Boot for Men in Cordovan Fall 2011

UGG has turned a new page for Fall 2011, bringing a well-thoughtout collection for men to the table, at a time when American heritage brands are claiming the boot market as their own and leaving others to pick up the crumbs. The reason we’re mentioning UGG, and trust we had no intention of ever highlighting them in the past, is because they’ve done a few things differently this time around that have caught our attention. It all starts with the Hannen Boot. The folks at the Australian footwear brand were kind enough to send us over a pair to try out and there’s no lying when we say we’re impressed. And honestly, a part of me isn’t surprised. There’s a reason every gal I’ve ever known owns a pair of UGGs — they’re extremely comfortable. The Hannen boot is no different. When you blend the boot’s Vibram outsole (yes, that Vibram) with UGG’s signature sheep skin lining, it’s like walking on lotion. Kudos to anyone that gets that reference.

The ultra-rich, oiled and waterproof leather shell comes in an impeccable Cordovan finish that’s ideal for the winter months, especially this year when different hues of red are seen in the collections of some of our favorite designers. The price point for the Hannen is below many of the other work boot styles out there as well — $240 at UGG. There are more detailed shots of the boot below so be sure to check those out and head on over to UGG to pick up a pair.

It features a flight nylon outer shell with contrasting nylon lining and polyfill for a thicker layer between you and the elements. The slim fit cut coupled with the longer length give way to added insulation and a effortless look.

Road Test | 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design

Road Test | 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design

We recently got behind the wheels of the 2012 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design, an AWD car that is nothing like what most would expect from the Swedish automaker. If you compare the T6 R-Design to its base counterpart, you get more than the R-Design’s added 25 horses under the hood. The S60 R-Design brings an aggressive look and performance enhancements that allow it to talk the talk and walk the walk. The T6 R-Design features a dedicated Sport suspension that gives the car a tighter handle than the T6′s original 4C dynamic chassis system. No doubt the T6 R-Design is a fun drive and with 325 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 354 pount-feet first reached at 3,000 rpm, how could it not be? One thing to note is that EPA fuel-economy estimates remain the same as the original T6 at 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Road Test | Rolls-Royce 102EX

Road Test | Rolls-Royce 102EX

We recently had the opportunity to test drive the Rolls-Royce 102EX, also known as the Phantom Experimental Electric (EE). It’s the world’s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment and one we see being showcased as a benchmark for other brands in the industry. There’s a growing demand for alternative drive-train options and that’s something the British coachmaker noticed before deciding to build the Phantom EE. Rolls-Royce is known for blending luxury with timeless design and the Phantom has been looked at as one of the most elegant designs in recent years and one that’s seen by many as a modern-day classic. The Phantom EE began here, as the original Phantom’s aluminum shell serves as the design base and though this is strictly an experimental model for the time being, no detail was spared. The hand craftsmanship, fine detailing and iconic design cues like the pantheon grille and the Spirit of Ecstasy are all showcased here, as the only thing removed from the original Phantom were the naturally aspirated 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine and 6-speed gearbox.

Road Trip | 2012 Mercedes-Benz C350 Coupe to Woodbury Commons

In part 1 of our week with the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C350 Coupe, we gave you all a look at the exterior of the newly designed beauty. We drove the C350 Coupe everywhere — work, play, errands and, yes, shopping. We can go to the mall anytime but we really wanted to see how the car would handle on a slightly longer distance and so we decided to take our first ever trip to Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets. It’s a short while outside of New York City and the drive is as relaxing as it is scenic. We won’t be disclosing what we bought but here’s how it all went down.

Closer Look | 1964 Jaguar XKE

Closer Look | 1964 Jaguar XKE

We recently teamed up with Two Inch Cuffs for this editorial. Much thanks to James Nord for his Photograpy and Direction, Ruben Hughes for his oversight and models Dylan Nord & Kathy Osborne for really bringing this project to life. For the complete spread, please head to Two Inch Cuffs.

Once called “the most beautiful car in the world” by none other than Enzo Ferrari, the 1964 Jaguar XK-E still exudes a timeless elegance that only a few cars of its generation can. The 60s wonder is currently one of six automobiles permanently on display at New York’s MoMA but don’t think that’s all it’s good for as there’s no doubt it is still capable of ripping the road as it tops off in the 160 mph range. The Two Inch Cuffs team had the opportunity to take this 1964 Jaguar XK-E around Ft. Lauderdale and there’s no doubt it turned heads and left many wishing to be in the driver’s seat. Amazing stills from the day can be found below.
