Today marks the launch of Nigel Cabourn for Converse First String footwear collection, which features the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey and the all-new Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty Plimsole. The UK-based designer is known for his infusion of military fabrics into his work, and that’s precisely what he’s done here with the First String collection. Cabourn examined Converse’s rich American heritage of boots and sneakers for the outdoors and the military and aligned the classic Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey with WWII flight suit fabric uppers in military-inspired navy and olive green colors.

Hodinkee has turned us to the latest iteration of the legendary Atmos clock from Jaeger-LeCoultre. This time around, Jaeger is collaborating with Hermès for the desk clocks. Atmos clocks of the past need no winding or battery. They’re powered by a gas-fueled mechanism that leads to the balance wheel beating just twice per minute, instead of the few hundred you’ll find in a wristwatch’s movement. And now, this latest creation mates the Swizz watchmaker with French fashion house Hermès. The relationship between the two dates back to the 1920s but was a halted in the 1970s when Hermès began making all their timepieces in house.
Les Cristalleries de Saint-Louis, the famous glassblowers, created a special double layer glass dome so complicated to produced that only the six most talented glassblowers at the firm were capable of completing the process. The air-blown dome is cut to reveal transparent pearl-like beads, and then polished to create subtle light effects. The entire dome is lined with white enamel. Magnificent. The 276 x 276 x 272 mm clock weights over 10kg and the dotted exterior allows for viewing of the incredible JLC caliber 560a Atmos movement.
This piece of work is filled with endless detailing and so sophisticated that we’re surprised that the limited quantity number is 176. It’s priced at roughly $39,000 USD.

A collaboration we feel long overdue, LA denim brand Rogue Territory teamed up with Amsterdam outpost Tenue de Nîmes for a pair of jeans that pay homage to denim legend Wrangler. The jeans are based on the ‘Stanton’ slim-straight fit and are made from a 14oz ‘broken-twill’ from Cone Mills with a ‘double out seam’: two of the most important characteristics of the old Wrangler cowboy jeans. Broken Twill’s a denim weave that’s seldom used these days but the fabric breaks in very nicely and it’s a shame we don’t see more of it. It was originally developed by Wrangler as a solution for the natural habit of a yarn to twist and the thereafter ‘twisting legs’ of jeans.

Saturdays Surf NYC has teamed up with French retailer colette for a collaboration that injects Saturdays’ clean and function aesthetic with colette’s sense of whimsy playfulness. The end result is a unisex lineup comprised of accessories, printed tee shirts and board shorts, all adorning both colette’s signature blue spheres and Saturdays’ slash logo. Each piece traverses the lifestyles of a Parisian cultural insider and a dynamic New York professional with a penchant for surfing.
We’ve been fans of colette in Paris for a long time. We jumped at the opportunity to collaborate on a capsule collection for this spring. We produced a unique print based on the colors and shapes in our
brands and the Saturdays classic silhouettes.
Together the designers have created a line that is sleek and style forward, yet still suggestive of the humorous and energetic lifestyle these brands embody. The Saturdays x colette collaboration is available now exclusively at colette and Saturdays locations, as well as Saturdays online.
