New York designer Thom Browne continues his collaborative efforts with California-based eyewear manufacturer, Dita. The Spring 2012 offerings were inspired by architecture and machinery of the mid-20th century, giving us a variety of styles. Pieces are made from titanium, leather, 18k yellow and white gold, as well as zyl acetate with production taking place Japan. With the extreme that’s gone into each piece, it’s no surprise last season’s goods were so well-received. Expect the same thing this time around. Look for these to be available through the Thom Browne boutique in New York as well as select stockists worldwide including Restir.
We initially reported on Thom Browne’s first ever eyewear collection which is set to release for the Fall 2011 season a while back and it seems a few select shops have already taken stock of the goods. The shots here were taken at Hong Kong’s Dita boutique and give us detailed looks with highlights of a few key pieces. We knew this collection would be phenomenal and from what we’re seeing, Thom Browne did not disappoint.
The collection will feature 20 unique styles that draw inspiration from the professors, artists, politicians and architects of the 1940s to 1960s and will be made from acetate, with specifically developed color combinations that will be complimented by genuine leather and metal mesh side cups as well marked with Browne’s signature red, white and blue logo stripe.
The goods can be had now at Dita in Hong Kong and other select retailers worldwide. More looks from the collection below.
Thom Browne recently announced a global eyewear license agreement with DITA Eyewear Inc. and first looks at the Fall 2011 pieces have just emerged. DITA’s been known to make some great eyewear. Spring 2009 is sure to bring a whole batch of pieces that will do more than just help to clarify the writing on the wall. It’s here early via the release of their “Statesman” frame for the holidays. They’re made in Japan of handcrafted Zyl Acetate front frame and temples.
The half rimmed classic styled frame is something we’re seeing more and more of but we just can’t get enough. They remind us of a pair of classic Persols, but more refined. You can choose from four colorways.

Wow, only 1,500 pairs of these?! The Cazal 902 are design and luxury at their finest. The collaboration between eyewear companies Cazal and Dita will definitely get the attention of on-lookers, whether it’s your neighbor or your boss. Unfortunately, they’re only sold in Berlin with a steep pricetag. (more…)
