Eleven years after the Ferrari Enzo, the Maranello-based automaker has officially unveiled their next supercar — the 2013 LaFerrari. Powered by the HY-KERS system that was developed alongside Ferrari’s Formula 1 racing efforts, LaFerrari features a 789-hp, 6.3-liter V-12 internal combustion engine that’s matched with a 120kW (161 hp) electric motor. All this is mated with Ferrari’s F1 dual-clutch gearbox, with claims of a 0-62 mph time under three seconds and a sub 7-second 0-124 mph time. Some of Ferrari’s top race drivers gave their insights into how the interior should be designed, in an effort to bring as much single-seater driving position to LaFerrari as possible. As a result, the driver’s seat itself is fixed and built to driver specification, while the steering wheel and pedals are adjustable to achieve proper reach.
We’re still waiting on some finer detailers like cost and weight but check out the launch video of the 2013 LaFerrari below to get your mouth watering.

Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena, Italy, a small city between Milan and Bolgna. The automaker that Enzo built and its racing team are based in Maranello but Fondazione Casa Natale Enzo Ferrari have acquired the Modena home that Enzo grew up in via a long term lease and have turned it into a museum dedicated to the legendary industrialist and racer. Enzo sold the home at the age of 22 to buy a racecar and failed several times to buy the house back afterwards. The museum features this house where Ferrari was born in 1898 as well as a new building designed with a shiny yellow aluminum roof as well as the attached workshop of Ferrari’s father, a carpenter and mechanic for the Italian railway.
Design work for The Enzo Ferrari Birthplace Museum was done by Czech architect Jan Kaplicky and completed after his death by his protege Andrea Morgante. It also incorporates an art exhibit, a multimedia experience, a rotating display of Ferrari road and race cars borrowed from independent collectors, and a collection of Enzo’s own artifacts. There are also education and conference centers, a book shop, cafeteria and the offices of the foundation itself.

What you’re seeing here is the newest and fastest car to ever enter Ferrari‘s stable — the F12 Berlinetta. The beauty’s V12 churns out 740 horses with 509 lb-ft of torque, allowing the F12 to go from 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0-104 mph in just 8.5. Bless the. It’s also the fastest Ferrari to lap around Fiorano, Ferrari’s private test track, breaking the 599 GTO’s record of 1:24 by a whole second. Design-wise, the F12 Berlinetta has a redesigned suspension and gearbox which makes for a lower and more rearward center of gravity, resting roughly 54 percent of the weight over the rear tires.
Look for the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta to make its debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Here’s an inside look at Ferrari‘s factory in Maranello, Italy. Design Boom went in to the factory and got to check out the carmaker’s latest addition to the plant — the ‘new assembly line’ — which focuses mainly on the final stages of the car-building process. Ferrari’s shop is a perfect blend of technology and design, as it utilizes 21,000 sq. meters of space in the most efficient manner possible. Across the two floors is a test area, prototype development facility as well as offices and meeting rooms. The space was designed by Jean Nouvel himself and really turned out tremendously.

Ferrari brings on NewMax to design a helmet that’s sure to be crowd pleaser. The design pays homage to the Maranello tradition and delivers an outer shell that’s made with advanced thermoplastic polymer with a high gloss scratch-resistant finish with the visor being made from scratch-resistant polycarbonate.
Satin-finish aluminium and metalised thermoplastic details run along the edge of the padding, allowing for easier cleaning and more abrasion resistance. The inside’s as comfortable as that of a Ferrari as it’s lined with two-tone Dupont technical fabric that’s both anti-allergic and antistatic and then trimmed with genuine leather and an embossed Ferrari logo.
The price is set at $356, which is surprisingly less than what we were expecting.

Though Italy’s Lamborghini has been making four-wheel drive cars for quite sometime now, Maranello’s Ferrari has thrown their hat in the ring with the Ferrari FF. The FF — an acronym for Ferrari Four (Four seats and four-wheel drive) — is really something special as it’s a revolutionary masterpiece. With a V12 engine under the hood, this car’s as powerful as it is versatile, something Pininfarina took into account when designing the supercar.
Ferrari’s exclusive, patented 4RM weighs 50 per cent less than a conventional four-wheel drive system and is completely integrated with the car’s electronic dynamic control systems. The FF is also equipped with the latest magnetorheological damping system, as well as the most recent development in carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo. Performance wise, the car shoots from 0 to 100 km in 3.7 seconds.
Look for the Ferrari FF to be unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with sales to begin sometime this summer. (via egmCarTech)

Tuning firms have made a business out of taking supercars and making them even more… super. Take UK-based Oakley Design and their rendition of the Ferrari 458 Italia. They’ve upped some of the 570-hp monster’s aerodynamic and visual aspects while also inserting a remapped engine computer. The car’s horsepower output is increased to 618 while 0-60 time is improved by .4 seconds to 3 seconds flat. Wow.
Oakley Design will be delivering a limited run of only five individually-numbered units. Look for it to be on display at SEMA 2010 in Las Vegas this month.

Next week, Ferrari will make one of the most anticipated debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show in recent years. However, the invite-only unveiling of the Ferrari 458 Italia took place earlier this week in Maranello. Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and Michael Schumacher had the honors of giving the F430 replacement a warm welcome.
For anyone that’s forgotten, power comes from a mid-rear mounted 4.5L V8 producing 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of over 202 mph.
