World Cup 2010: Making of the Jabulani Soccer Ball [Adidas]

Keeping things simple is sometimes a difficult task for sponsors. Take Adidas for example. As the official sponsor of this year’s World Cup, instead of delivering a traditional match ball which has 32 hexagonal panels, they decided to get creative and make the Jabulani, a ball that has only 8 panels and slightly different texture. The ball poses a disadvantage to non-Adidas sponsored teams as well as, Adidas-backed teams like Germany have been exclusively using the ball for months, whereas other teams like England have not dude to contractual obligations.

Fred Perry Polos for 2010 World Cup [Limited Edition]

As the 2010 FIFA World Cup is set to begin later this week, Fred Perry‘s launched polos representing some of the tournament’s most famous teams. Each shirt is based on Fred Perry’s classic Authentic fit silhouette, and features an oversize Laurel on the chest with the country’s name, as it appears on the national strip, written below. “The tipping on each shirt represents the colours in the national team kit, so whether you are a fan of the team or not, these polos perfectly fuse team colours with Fred Perry’s famous polo.”

Umbro World Champions Collection

Umbro World Champions Collection [FIFA 2010]

The “Umbro World Champions Collection” consists of seven limited edition football shirts, all of which were released this week to honor the teams that have won the FIFA World Cup in the past. The “Tailored by Umbro” shirt bears a crest designed by an artist from that country. The ad campaign takes influence from an Umbro ad from the 60s, and features the wives and girlfriends of footballers from the national teams.
