Todd Snyder presented his Fall 2012 collection this week at New York Fashion Week. Entitled, “American in Paris”, the offerings are loosely inspired by Brassai’s louche photographic visions of Paris de nuit. Included in the lineup are tailored topcoats and a ton of more military-inspired pieces such as sulfur-dyed cargos, black indigo office sweaters, and oiled moleskin pea coats. Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen presented their Fall 2012 collection during this week’s New York Fashion Week, once again delivering staple items with some really amazing detailing. Look for outstanding outerwear alongside suiting in warm fabrics. The color palette is strong as well with neutral colors dominating and a few shots of color throughout to give the collection some edge.
New York Fashion Week has been quite exceptional thus far and Native Son continues with the presentation of their Fall 2012 collection. Fall/Winter 2012 marks the first of a four season collaboration with North Carolina based Raleigh Denim. The goal is to develop product that values American culture and pays homage to the old manufacturing techniques of the late 1800s. Native Son’s offerings as a whole take inspiration from this ethos with well-made product that’s both modern and versatile. Most of the pieces are neutral and subdued but there are shots of brown that really stand out.
Palladium, most recently known for their highly successful partnership with Pharrell, have added another powerful relationship, this time teaming up with designer Richard Chai for a capsule collection for Fall 2012. The collection was unveiled at Chai’s F/W ’12 runway show this week at New York Fashion Week. The styles blend the authentic heritage of Palladium with Richard’s modern take on menswear, giving us pieces that are impeccably designed and are authentic as well.

Hiroshi Awai delivers another exceptional collection for CREEP, this time giving us a well-balanced lineup for Fall 2012. The use of warm fabrics is seen throughout the offerings, from the outerwear to the shirting. What really stands out is the use of a wide range of colors including orange and green.
German label A Kind of Guise delivers looks at their Fall 2012 offerings. The handcrafted bags and leather goods are highlighted through a few preview shots with a solid lineup of tailored blazers and knits as well as a few outerwear pieces that look like they’ll be worth the wait.
The Impossible Project drops another amazing collaboration this time teaming up with Holden Outerwear for a camera kit worth grabbing as soon as it drops. The rebirth of analog instant photography is here as companies like Holden are so willing to support Impossible’s creative endeavors. This kit comes packed with a Holden-customized vintage SX-70 Polaroid camera, a leather camera case made in collaboration with Tanner Goods, instant film and filter that was co-produced by Holden and Impossible, all presented in a custom wooden box.
The team selected ten well known photographers to use to use Impossible film to capture their vision of Holden’s lifestyle ideology through instant photography. The t-shirt collection that will come of this project will be available at Holden Outerwear online, select shops as well as Holden x Impossible exhibitions that will be running next fall.
GQ Eye gives us a first look at Ovadia & Sons’ Fall 2012 lookbook. We spoke to Ariel a bit before the brand’s showing at (capsule) and even as you get a few hints at what’s to come, the final product is beyond what we were imagining. Paris Fashion Week has come to a close but we couldn’t part ways without highlighting Rei Kawakubo’s latest work for Comme des Garcons. The Fall 2012 runway show was filled with a ton of interesting looks, though that was to be expected. The models were dressed appropriately for the theme of the new collection: Neither Man Nor Woman. The pieces were a mixture of traditional mens pieces and a few that might look most familiar on your lady friend. All-in-all, it’s a tremendous collection that blends high quality fabrics with eccentric design.
Nicolas Ghesquière’s continues to mature Balenciaga‘s menswear lineup with his work for the Fall 2012 collection. The offerings are more sophisticated and aim to deliver a more refined blend of timeless and modern pieces. The construction is sharp with hints of futurism while the fabrics utilized are nothing short of exceptional.
