Google’s newly unveiled Nexus Q is essentially the internet giant’s answer to the Apple TV. It streams your favorite entertainment directly from the cloud to your living room but axes the onscreen interface. Everything’s controlled from a compatible phone or tablet with media streaming in from your Google Play and YouTube apps. The design is simplistic with a sphere-like shell and only a few discreet ports on the back to plug into your speakers, AV receiver or HDTV. Once you’re playing, you can control the volume from your handheld device, or simply by turning the top half of Nexus Q. Just touch the top LED to mute the sound completely. The Google Nexus Q is priced at $299 with availability via pre-order through Google.

Jawbone has released the Big Jambox, a larger version of the more compact Jambox. This one’s just as portable with amazing sound quality to match. Stream audio from any Bluetooth-friendly mobile device such as your iPhone or iPad. If you want more, load it with software updates and apps to take things next level. Not only can you stream phone calls and music, but you can utilize it for Skype, FaceTime, and other video chat applications as well.

Aëdle has released a 3D rendering of their forthcoming headphones. It’s a minimalist design that we hope the Paris-based start up releases sooner than later. The silver and brown combination stands out and is really refined. We’ll take one as soon as it drops. Stay tuned, folks.

Oh, that’s nice. You’re looking at a new wide angle lens from Carl Zeiss — the Distagon T* 2,8/15. The German lens maker’s latest creation will be available with for Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The lens can focus from just 25cm (10″) and offers a 110 deg and is said to be extremely quick. Other Distagon fixed focal lengths include 18mm, 21mm, 25mm, 28mm, and 35mm. Expect the 15mm model to entice photogs into architectural and landscape photography. It features 15 optical elements, including two aspheric elements and glass with abnormal partial dispersion to control distortion and chromatic aberration. It features an integrated lens hood and accepts 95mm threaded filters.

The price is marked at $2,948 with a release date set for May 2012.

Introducing the new Apple iPad. It looks like the iPad 2 but the changes were made on the inside this time around rather than aesthetic enhancements. Things will look even more real as the screen’s been updated to a Retina Display. It features a new 5-megapixel iSight camera which is backed by a larger ƒ/2.4 aperture and a five-element lens. If you’re more into motion capturing, then you’ll be glad to know you can now grab HD 1080p video. Siri’s sort of onboard this third-gen iPad with the new dictation feature which allows you to write an email, send a text, search the web, and create a note. All with your voice. Travel much? Browse the web at an even faster rate with the introduction of LTE technology. You can even turn the new iPad into a personal hotspot, allowing you to connect up to five devices to the high-speed connection.

The new Apple iPad is available for pre-order now in the conventional white or black, with the official release happening on March 16th. Prices start at $499 for Wi-Fi only models and $629 for Wi-Fi + 4G.
