I recently stopped in to visit good friend and one of New York’s best dressed men, Nish De Gruiter of Suitsupply. We got the talking and realized it’s the perfect time to really shed some light on the brand. ‘Tis the season. The Dutch custom clothier made its way over from Europe about six months ago and they’ve already begun to lay their mark on the city. The suiting is well-made and features all the proper sartorial touches. Beyond housing a long wall of suits, the SoHo boutique also has a ton of complimentary pieces such as outerwear, neckwear, footwear, travel goods and shirting. Suitsupply also features a Made-To-Measure service that competes with the best of them.
We love to work with great people that are doing great things. Suitsupply embodies all of this. Nish & company are really feeling the holiday cheers as they’re looking to giveaway a holiday package to one lucky winner. The package includes one slim-fit button-down shirt with cutaway collar, a wool tie and a cotton/cashmere blend buttoned sweater. The set is exclusively styled by Por Homme with most of this stuff not even available on the site yet. Here’s how you can win:
Do two of three above to be eligible, all three to increase your chances. The contest will run until Monday, 12PM EST. If you don’t win, you can follow Suitsupply on Tumblr to get a free tie with any suit purchase. Just show proof that you follow from your smartphone. Unfortunately, I’m not eligible to win because if I was, I would enter from every angle possible to snag this. More details below about the contest below.
Vancouver-based retailer Roden Gray has cooked up this Holiday 2011 lookbook video entitled, “Absinthe Minded”. Some of the brands featured in the video include Adam Kimmel x Carhartt, Alden, Band of Outsiders, Gitman Brothers, Levi’s Made & Crafted, Nanamica, Wing + Horns and a few others. Direction was led by Zak David with Jeffro Halladay getting the production credit.
Shipley & Halmos looks to add to the holiday cheers with these special edition Neapolitan Bars made by Chocolate Editions. Only 25 of these bars were made, with each featuring a unique, original artwork created by the Shipley & Halmos Art Department. They’ve done it Willy Wonka style and inserted a golden ticket inside one of the bars, which holds a coupon code good for any item you want from the brand’s e-commerce store. ‘Tis the season. The bars can be had for $17 at Shipley & Halmos.
Yesterday marked the opening of the GQ at Park & Bond Holiday pop-up shop. The two have been working together through GQ’s shop on the Park & Bond site but this is the first time you’ll see both GQ and Park & Bond commanding a brick and mortar space. So what can you expect in terms of products? Well, there’s a lot to cover including “GQ Selects,” a selection of products handpicked from the pages of the magazine by the editors; GQ’s “Best Stuff of the Year,” as featured in the December issue; and a specially curated selection of products from Park & Bond, including the best designer brands for outerwear, apparel, denim, accessories, footwear, watches (new and vintage), tech, grooming products, and much more.
There’s a wide selection of impulse buys as well, all of which are priced under $50. The holiday shopping season is definitely in full effect. And beyond all this goodness, you can also expect to see a lot of what can be found through Park & Bond’s online site. It’s a diverse bunch with brands like A.P.C., Filson, GANT, Jack Spade, Mackintosh, Thom Browne and many more in the fold.
Presented in partnership with American Express, the temporary retail experience will be open through December 18, though it will be closed this coming Monday and Tuesday. Open from 11am to 6pm Wednesday to Friday, 11am to 7pm Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. More looks of the space below.
GANT Rugger has dropped a leather goods collection which consists of a few key pieces, all of which will be perfect as holiday gifts or personal acquisition. They’re produced by Tärnsjö Tannery, a small family owned company about two hours north of Stockholm, Sweden and one of the few remaining tanneries in Europe where the process is still 100% organic. The end result is of the highest quality possible and features leather that will age and wear beautifully. Every piece is handmade and shows Gant’s passion for quality, value for money and keeping the heritage alive. The collection delivers the goods in two colorways, natural undyed and cognac. The lineup includes a leather slip case, phone cover, card holder and belt.
The goods are available now in limited quantities exclusively online and at GANT stores in New York City. Shop the leather goods collection at GANT.
J.Lindeberg’s Biannual book, The Documentary and A Dream, has released for Fall/Winter 2011, this time highlighting some notable individuals in their own right. Among them is Patrick Grant, the Creative Director at British label E. Tautz and proprietor of bespoke Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons. ‘The making of the Documentary and A Dream is always a process in which we search to improve, refine and develop,’ says global brand director Stefan Engström. There are some impressive collaborators that came in to work with creative director Jörgen Ringstrand, including David St John-James and Robby Spencer. The limited edition book is available to view in stores.
Saks Fifth Avenue is known for doing something spectacular each and every holiday season. We’ve seen their flagship Fifth Avenue location get done up in extravagant packaging (which will be the case again this year I’m sure) but this 3D video projection show really tops anything they’ve done in the past. It blends luxury with technology and sprinkles in everything that we love about the holidays. See the video below.
To showcase their Holiday 2011 collection, GANT Rugger commissioned Noah Emrich of NOVH fame to shoot the lookbook. He brought on some of his close friends to sport the looks including photographer Justin Chung (you might remember him from The All-American Shoot), Nico Lazaro of The Bengal Stripe, Sean Hotchkiss of The GQ Eye and PH friend William Yan. Two ladies also got into the mix — Nicole Loher (above) and Julia Jacobson. Some of our favorite pieces include the salt and pepper crew neck sweater Nicole’s wearing as well as the Country Twill and Herringbone blazer, Tinkering Twill button down and Puffer Waistcoat.
The lookbook is featured below, while the product is available for consumption now at GANT Rugger.
Libero Ferrero introduces their debut collection, one that unites old world craftsmanship with modern design. The luxury bags and cases feature custom Horween leathers and Holland & Sherry fabrics and a handmade construction to give the brand a signature collection that’s clean and masculine. Brothers Matt, Adam and Peter Lafferty founded Libero Ferrero in homage to their grandfather, the brands namesake, which pays reverence to the creativity, ingenuity and dedication of his generation. From these first looks, we’d say they’re on the right track.
Libero Ferrero can be found at select boutiques in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago as well as online at www.liberoferrero.com. See the exclusive look at their Holiday 2011 lookbook below.
