One thing that most people don’t put much thought into is the light bulbs they buy. Sure, you probably go for the most energy-efficient ones out but all you do is look for the Energy Star logo and you’re all set. Now, with technology evolving at such a rapid pace, it’s no surprise Philips has developed the Hue. Hue is a different kind of light bulb. It allows you to customize the look and mood of a room with each Hue light bulb delivering 600 lumens and producing all shades of white, from warm to cold, and a wide variety of colour. The Hue’s great for personal or commercial customization as you can connect up to 50 Hue light bulbs to a single system and control it all with your iPhone or iPad from wherever you are.
Oh, and it uses 80% less power than a traditional light bulb. Check out the video and purchase yours through the Apple Store.

Captured during last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, this video from Porsche sheds light on the philosophy behind the new interior of the 911. The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic cars on the road and the German automaker has managed time and time again to give the beauty some modern aesthete without stripping it of its origins. With the interior, we think there are some definite parallels between the more modern designs of recent years and those we saw decades ago. The basis throughout all these years continues to be comfort and timeless elegance and the 2012 911 delivers on all counts.

Inventory informs us of the recent interior redesign of the Unis flagship store here in NYC. “Kyle Garner from Sit and Read Furniture teamed up with Unis to re-fit their Nolita home base. The combination of left-over Unis fabrics and Kyle’s classical furnishings have resulted in a perfectly unassuming interior. Clean lines and a great arrangement for a nice open space and great garments; it’s what a clothing store should look like.”

Courtesy of our friends at SwipeLife, we bring you the Mineral House designed by Yasuhiro Yamashita. It’s a small, avant-garde residence located in downtown Tokyo that’s received a number of accolades and awards since its completion. “It is a radical departure from the surrounding built environment, standing as a bright white modernist beacon in the crowded confines of the city. The restrictive urban site spawned the unusual shape of the home, which appears to be a distorted cube with a portion of its bottom half removed to accommodate parking. The Mineral House is only 480 square feet, but an open plan and unobtrusive interior furnishings serve to avoid a cramped impression. Yamashita explains that the interior is his modern interpretation of traditional Japanese minimalism. The distorted exterior aesthetic is carried to the interior where the walls and built in elements reflect the shape of the outside surfaces.”

The Edition Silhouette Rugs by German-based Object Carpet are perfect for your next remodeling project.
Here’s what Object Carpet has to say:
The Edition Silhouette presents sensuous extravaganza between contrasting poles. Its passionate dynamics unfold in the contradistinctions of material and the lack thereof, between quotes of traditional arts and crafts and cutting edge technologies, between feminine design vocabulary and a masculine range of colours. The rugs of the Edition Silhouette are not simply passed over. They are an exclusive floor adornment in which the aesthetics of a designed room finds its culmination.
