For the past decade, Stefano Pilati has been the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent, one of the world’s most historically-rich brands in the history of fashion. Road to (capsule) is a Por Homme exclusive, made possible by the good folks behind the (capsule) tradeshow, and of course, the person(s) being interviewed. We ask each designer a few questions that help to give us — as fans, readers, observers, whatever — a better understanding of what makes these gifted individuals tick. The questions are fairly uniform, but as you’ll see, the answers are far from that. The (capsule) show invades New York January 16th and 17th, giving viewers first looks at Fall/Winter 2012 collections from the industry’s most reputable men’s labels.
Anne Michelson founded Crescent Down Works in the mid-seventies and nearly 40 years later, the brand is still as relevant as ever, this time to a completely new audience. To reach them in a more intimate environment, Anne and her team is prepping for their first-ever showing at the (capsule) New York. We had the opportunity to interview Anne to see how the brand has evolved over the years and what 2012 will bring for the Seattle-based label.

We recently had the opportunity to connect with Ariel, one-half of New York-based label Ovadia & Sons, ahead of their viewing at this month’s (capsule) show in New York. Along with his twin brother, Shimon, the duo has been able to really get some serious recognition since launching last spring. The goods from their F/W ’11 collection can be found at New York’s C.H.C.M. and online through their own boutique as well as Park & Bond. Here’s what Ariel had to say as the entire Ovadia & Sons team preps for (capsule) New York.

Common, the 39-year-old hip-hop veteran slash actor slash writer has had an exceptional 2011 to say the least. It’s been mostly a turning of a new leaves as he’s explored new avenues like authoring a book — his memoir, One Day It’ll All Make Sense — and even landing a role on AMC TV show Hell On Wheels. Beyond all the new, the Chicago-bred artist stays in touch with his old self with the release of his upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer. Slated for a December 20th release, the album features appearances by fellow Chi-Town native John Legend, Nas and an original work by Maya Angelou. Common even takes a shot at the soft-sounding works of contemporaries with a new song called “Sweet”.
Interview Magazine spoke to Common about the track, Hell on Wheels, and his memories of living with his late colleague, celebrated producer J Dilla. A few notable excerpts can be found below with the full feature available at Interview Magazine.

For those that follow us on Twitter (shameless plug), you may have noticed my declaration of love for Boardwalk Empire. The show’s set in Atlantic City during the Prohibition Era and is undoubtedly one of the most well-written shows on television today. One of my favorite characters in the show is Chalky White played by Michael Kenneth Williams, though it should be said that he’s been quiet the last few episodes, hopefully that changes. Back to the subject at hand, MR PORTER actually sat down with Mr. Williams for a brief Q&A, one that gives us a little bit of insight into the man he is off the screen. At the same time, they’ve also dropped a few accompanying looks as he sports the season’s best coats.

Cool Hunting recently sat down with A.P.C. Founder Jean Touitou for an interview worth checking out. Since 1987, the label’s been dishing out simplistic French design that’s wearable and modern but has a timeless appeal to it all. Cult label no more, A.P.C. is one of the most recognized labels in the World and with good reason. See the interview below.
