From Junya Watanabe Man’s eYe collection comes this navy varsity jacket for Fall 2011. It’s super heavy and was made in collaboration with army supplier Johnson Leathers right here in the United States. The detailing justifies the price tag as it features heavy cow leather sleeves, a wool shell and full red nylon lining. The slanted front pockets have leather accents while the shawl collar, cuffs and hem are all ribbed for a slimmer fit.
Junya Watanabe COMME des GARCONS MAN is teaming up with Levi’s Vintage Clothing, with the initial collaboration being for these LVC 1954 denims for the Fall 2011 season. These 501s are the original tapered style jeans and feature various materials throughout the patchwork including leather, plaid flannel and corduroy. The corduroy waistband, re-positioned back pockets and an additional center seam down the back of the leg add to the fine detailings of these denims.
Another tremendous showing at this year’s Paris Fashion Week was from Junya Watanabe as the designer showcased a Spring 2012 collection inspired by a weekend in the British countryside. The styling’s as quirky as you’d expect from the designer as he delivers colorful overalls, cropped trousers and waxed hunting jackets in several finishes and much more. (via GQ)
Junya teams up with Vanson to make a jacket for the all American street wear bad boys out there. This classic motorcycle jacket has an asymmetrical zip front and pockets and zippers galore. While the zippers make the jacket stand out a bit they aren’t overwhelming, ensuring that this will be a piece with some longevity in your wardrobe. Whether you ride a Harley or the train to get to where you need to be, this jacket is a fly option.
Junya Watanabe teams up with Mackintosh once again with this hooded parka leading the way. It features a simplistic design but there are some distinct details that help to make it standout. The “eye” before its name signifies this piece was made in extremely limited quantities.
Who better to craft a down-filled pea coat than Junya Watanabe? This impressive outerwear piece features a black quilted water resistant puff exterior with down filling. The details are immense, with wool plaid flannel under the collar, a double breasted button front closure and black corduroy detailing on front pockets. The time dedicated to making each of one of these in Japan must have been extensive, because crafting something this special requires lots of it.

San Fran’s Union gotten their first shipment of Junya Watanabe Man items for the fall and the Jake Davis was lucky enough to get an exclusive first look. The range is impeccable, with plenty of high-fashion aesthete mixed with good ol’ craftsmanship, a combination that’ll continue to influence the mass market brands for seasons moving forward. The fabric and print combos are mind-blowing, with camo makes its way onto plenty of staple items including jersey sweatshirts, a houndstooth scarf and even to the inside of a pair of denims.
