To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Lamborghini has released the Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition. Originally slated to be unveiled later this month at the Shanghai Motor Show, the 710-horsepower behemoth will come in a yellow and black paint job (may be customizable) and boast a 2.9-second 0-to-62-mph time and top speed of 217 miles per hour. The special carbon fiber aero kit has a hand in this as it’s said to be 50 percent more efficent. Preliminary reports say only 100 of these will be made.

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has taken the covers off their latest concept vehicle — Urus — a Spanish breed of bull that sits somewhere between fighting size and hauling size. Though the name hit the rumor mill quite some time ago when the Estoque four door was unveiled, looks like the name is being reserved for Lambo’s SUV of the future. You won’t see it on the streets until 2005 but we’re expecting power and Lamborghini to be put a lid on the carbon emissions in the process. 50 percent of customer deliveries are aimed at the United States so expect this to be one competitive SUV, one that’s owned by some pretty impressive contention — the Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne, as well as the BMW X6 M.

This is happening. At the Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini officially uveiled the Aventador J Roadster, a drop-top version of the Lamborghini Aventador which we saw get unveiled a few years back. The all-wheel-drive J Roadster comes fitted with a 700-hp 6.5 litre 12-cylinder monster under the hood and caps out at 186 mph. The goal of the Aventador J Roadster is speed and performance and it delivers both right to your face. The roof and windshield are removed as are a few cockpit amenities you’d normally expect. The car’s overall weight has been significantly decreased through the use of a pliable new carbon fiber fabric called ‘Carbonskin’, which is utilized on the interior trim, in the bumpers, the front air scoop and in the rear diffuser. A price hasn’t been tagged to the Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster, but there’s only one available so expect it to cost a pretty penny.

With this year’s LA Auto Show underway, expect a lot of car coverage over the days ahead. We’re delighted to get things started with the unveiling of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder, a convertible variant of the Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni. The latest bull features a V10 engine that dishes out 550 horsepower to a RWD supercar that’s a sight to see. The suspension’s been tuned to handle the real-wheel-drive architecture, with some revisions made to the aerodynamics as well. The LP550-2 Spyder will be available with a six-speed manual or six-speed e-gear transmission.

Introducing the Lamborghini LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, the Italian bull’s latest creation and one that takes much inspiration from the Lamborghini’s Blancpain Super Trofeo race car. This street legal wonder is indeed race car inspired and features a 570-horsepower V10 engine to back up all the chatter. The rear spoiler offers increased dynamic stability during high-speeds while the lightweight construction can be credited to a carbon composite material that allows the Stradale to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and that’s before the car’s “Thrust Mode” is even utilized. The “Rosso Mars” finish symbolizes Italy’s traditional racing red.

Only 150 units of the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale will be produced.

In the few decades since the brand’s inception, Lamborghini has had its fair share of ups and downs. It wasn’t until Audi took the brand over in 1998 that the Italian carmaker saw some dramatic shifts in future development. Though one of Germany’s finest took the company over, Lamborghini remains to be headquartered in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. Oakley Design has unveiled the first tuning program for Lamborghini’s LP700-4 Aventador. The design studio calls their rendition of the supercar the LP760-2 as it packs 760 horsepower (a jump of 60 from the original) and drops the all-wheel-drive system for a real-wheel drive option. The Aventador loses some weight as well with the help of Intrax. Suspension upgrades and the removal of the front differential, drive shafts and associated front drivetrain parts allow it to drop about 187 pounds.
