To mark its 65th anniversary, Land Rover has presented a new special edition Defender dubbed “LXV”, the Roman numeral for 65. The LXV is based on the standard Defender Hard Top and is equipped with a 2.2-liter diesel engine pushing out 120 horsepower and 265 lb-ft or torque while being mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The British automaker finished off this Special Edition with a Santorini Black pain body that’s pinned against the Corris Grey roof, grille, headlight surrounds and facia. The Defender LXV also fitted with 16-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels and features special badges and a union flag decal on the tail gate. The interior features full leather seats with “LXV” embossed front headrests and unique orange contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and center cubby.

The Land Rover Defender LXV Special Edition is available in limited quantities in Great Britain with a starting price of £28,765 GBP or approx. $44,671 USD.

There are a range of unveilings taking place at this week’s New York International Auto Show so expect us to continue delivering headlining news as fast as we can write it. Next up is the newly redesigned 2014 Range Rover Sport. From first glance, we’re seeing this is an extended Evoque with hints of the new HSE sprinkled in as well. It features the Range Rover’s tapering blade lights and LED day-time running lights with unique elements resting on the two-bar grille, the strakes in the side vents and the two vents on the hood. The latest iteration of the RR Sport gets seven inches added to the wheelbase, making room for an optional third row of seats. Under the hood, you get your choice of a 340hp supercharged V6 or a 510hp supercharged V8, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission by ZF.

Prices will begin at $63,495 for the Range Rover Sport SE and its 3.0-liter supercharged V6, then go to $68,495 for the HSE, $79,995 for the Supercharged that puts the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 underhood, and $93,295 for the Autobiography. All of those prices include the $895 destination charge.

From Kahn Design comes another custom version of the Land Rover Defender, this time with the interior being fitted with Harris Tweed fabric. Harris Tweed is the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament and it can now be found in this Kahn creation. The bespoke interior features the hand-woven fabric as well as a piano black wood center dash, red rev counter, machined aluminum pedals, red seat belts, as well as front and rear racing seats in black guilted leather with Harris Tweed accents. The cabin is fitted with Nappa leather and grey Alcantara with silver and red contrasting stitching. The exterior features a wide body kit with extended wheel arches, vented headlight surrounds, stainless steel front grille, LED headlights, clear front and rear light lenses and 18-inch 1983 Defender alloy wheels.

We first heard about the Land Rover Defender DC100 a few weeks back, but we’ve gotten much more info since then and this video from Land Rover really gives us a deeper look at the DC 100 and DC100 Sport concept vehicles. “For over 60 years Land Rover have been building vehicles renowned for their capability and versatility, perhaps none more so than the iconic Defender. With an eye to the future, Land Rover’s Design Director Gerry McGovern has led the Land Rover design team to explore a modern reinterpretation of the Defender.”

With Land Rover’s Defender model being off the market for quite sometime now, we’re really excited to see this image release of what the DC 100 Concept will look like ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show unveil.
