Billy Reid was the winner of this year’s Best New Designer award from GQ, and with that came much praise as well as an opportunity to design a line for Levi’s. The result is some of the most well-thoughtout pieces we’ve seen from Billy as he gets serious and does things like infuse some iconic Levi’s design traits into a staple item he’s crafted for his own collection. Case in point, this oxford shirt. Yes, he’s got one in his own line for the fall but he takes it deeper by giving it indigo stitching and slapping on a Levi’s pocket.
When it hits select stores, look for the shirt to run you about $150, alongside other great pieces like an apron bag ($150) and a pair of extensively repaired 505 jeans ($178).

In the early 1900s, Brooks Brothers pioneered the “trunk show” movement at college campuses across the nation, giving students a place to check out the latest from the American label. When the company was first established in New York City in 1818, Brooks Brothers lived up to the high expectations of a fast-paced city and its merchants, who turned to the new kid on the block turned iconic label for the latest digs. Fast forward to 2010, Brooks Brothers continues to pioneer while still delivering ready-made pieces with high quality, something the masses have come to expect from America’s finest.

The fine folks at Levi’s have teamed up with Filson to bring us a special collection that joins two names synonymous with workwear and American heritage. The collection is made entirely in the USA at the C. C. Filson factory in Seattle and will feature plenty of workwear clothing and accessories that are the result of days and weeks of collaborative brainstorming between leads at both brands.
One standout piece that’s already begun to catch headlines is Filson’s rendition of the Levi’s Trucker Jacket. This special offering delivers the iconic outdoor piece in Filson’s signature sturdy oil finish Tin Cloth fabric. All pieces in this special collaboration are built-to-last and extremely functional and can be expected to hit select Filson and Levi’s shops in the coming weeks.

Levi Strauss & Co. celebrated Independence Day by opening a one-of-a-kind customization shop at their flagship store in San Francisco’s Union Square. The Tailor Shop goes above and beyond what we’ve seen in the past and offers full customization for all Levi’s denim products, from the jeans to the jackets. ACL also tells us there is now an in-house chain stitch machine, an embroidery machine and a darning machine, and customers are able to make their own buttons, choose vintage patches, and screen print to fully customize their jeans.
Also on display are 50 vintage trucker jackets with chain stitch embroidery, collections of vintage labels, back packets, back patches and an array of famous Levi’s red tabs.
