Ed Ruscha is featured in the Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook for Band of Outsiders. Shot on location at Ruscha’s studio in Los Angeles, CA on vintage Polaroid film. The shots are plenty and shed light on some of the key pieces from the spring season’s offerings. Look for Scott Sternberg to deliver some fine suiting as well as a few casual pieces like an amazing leather jacket, a mac coat, and shirting as well.
Here we have a look at Saturdays‘ Spring 2012 lookbook. The pieces are more basic than anything but it all comes down to quality and construction. Multi-weather mac coat is blended with basic tees and lightweight khakis while we also see sweatshirts and hoodies that are offered up in a few different colorways.
The Brooklyn Circus has teamed up with Red Wing Heritage to shed some light on one of the bootmaker’s most iconic designs – the Iron Ranger. Iron Ranger boots were built with a double layer of leather over the toe to provide miners in Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range with an extra measure of safety. The heel pocket, a boot feature designed to provide extra support, was moved to the outside of the boot. This design eliminated a seam and provided a smooth and comfortable one-piece surface on the inside of the boot. It was a solid blend of design and function, hence the reason the boot’s so popular to this day. The BkC and Red Wing cooked up these styled looks featuring Red Wing Heritage styles 8111, 8113, and 8114. More looks below.
We’ve been looking forward to this for a few months now and Uniqlo has finally released looks at their recently-announced collaboration with UNDERCOVER of Japan. The UNDERCOVER for Uniqlo Spring/Summer 2012 “UU” capsule collection succeeds Uniqlo’s collab with Jil Sander’s J+ label which ended this winter. This is a bit more comprehensive and looks to appeal to the entire family as looks at offerings for men, women, and children are highlighted throughout the imagery. Expect some season-appropriate florals and striped goods as well as a solid lineup of blazers, hoodies, chinos and leather jackets. Jun Takahasi and wife and partner RICO did an exceptional job designing the line. Look for the “UU” capsule collection to launch on March 16 through the Uniqlo Ginza global flagship store in Tokyo before rolling out to 32 Japanese doors and 11 international locations shortly thereafter.
Hiroshi Awai delivers another exceptional collection for CREEP, this time giving us a well-balanced lineup for Fall 2012. The use of warm fabrics is seen throughout the offerings, from the outerwear to the shirting. What really stands out is the use of a wide range of colors including orange and green.
GQ Eye gives us a first look at Ovadia & Sons’ Fall 2012 lookbook. We spoke to Ariel a bit before the brand’s showing at (capsule) and even as you get a few hints at what’s to come, the final product is beyond what we were imagining. Look for a full look at the range to drop soon, which we’ll be sure to highlight when it drops.
I took a trip over to 45rpm‘s New York boutique a few weeks back and I was left in awe. The label’s offerings look a million times better in person than they do in pictures. Since the Spring 2012 collection is just beginning to trickle into stockists, their lookbook will have to suffice for now. The fabrics allow for more breathable pieces that range from t-shirts to blazers.
Maison Kitsuné designer Masaya Kuroki has delivered another exceptional collection. The label’s Fall 2012 collection keeps its Parisian roots in play while blending in some inspiration from the British Tweed Run. As always, special attention is given to the choice of fabrics and the tailoring of the garments through strategic sourcing of factories that still value artisan methods. Timeless wears that are exceptionally designed and well-made.
This collection won’t be hitting shelves for months down the line but I don’t think I can wait that long for the Maison Kitsuné x New Era cap showcased throughout the looks.
