Well, the temperature just dropped massively this week and it’s about time we all invest in some additional support for our feet. J.Crew’s just taken stock of a few different designs from CHUP that will keep you warm and add some subtle pop to your outfits. The Japanese sock brand uses an authentic stocking frame to create a durable, long lasting, and comfortable fit. The detailing is exceptional as the lengthy production process allows only 20-25 pairs to be crafted a day and each pair incorporates ethnic patterns and colors from all over the world. J.Crew currently carries four designs that will run through the holiday season.
HODINKEE has teamed up with motoring lifestyle brand Autodromo to deliver their latest work, the Stelvio sunglasses. Completely handmade in Japan, they’re named after the famous alpine pass – one of the finest driving roads in Italy – with each pair requiring over 130 operations to build and a month to complete. They are laser etched with a serial number, and made of the highest quality amber acetate in the world, with polarized cognac lenses. Each pair comes with a quilted leather carrying case inspired by some of our favorite vintage Ferraris. Numbers are limited here as only fifty pairs will be made.
Damasquina presents this 2-pocket accordion style card case made with vintage leather. It’s made in Japan and features exceptional detailing such as the leather string wrap flap closure with a brass anchor on the end.
From Linda Farrow Luxe comes these angular-frame sunglasses. Linda Farrow eyewear has been iconic over the years to say the least and the designer continues to deliver impeccably designed pieces. They’re equal parts modern and elegant and feature all the fine detailings to make them worthy of recognition. This pair has gold-embossed arm details and are fitted with brown lenses. The frames are made in Japan with the utmost care and can now be had through MR PORTER.
Amsterdam’s Tenue de Nimes is known for their passion for denim and they’ve got a slew of solid collaborations to prove it. They’ve really hit a new high this time as they’ve teamed up with Okayama-based denim brand Momotaro. The piece is made from a multi-yarn, 12 oz. sulphur denim fabric. This cloth is twenty year old deadstock that was sourced at the Rampuya factory warehouse in Japan. Because of the limited amount of material that was available, the Momotaro factory could only produce 17 pairs. All the jeans were made in Japan and are for sale exclusively at Tenue de Nimes for €329,90 (~ $431).
California-based Oliver Peoples has hit the big 2-5 and to celebrate, they designed a small capsule collection that’s made in Japan and available in limited numbers. The four styles include the Myriel, NDG Flip Clip, Florenz 46 and J Gold, with each piece made with the utmost care and detail. (via hb)
There’s just something about freezing your toes off that turns me off to the entire winter months. There’s plenty of gear available to help insulate our bodies but very few brands are dishing out the goods to protect our toes from frost bite. I’m really talking extremes here but it’s good to know that a brand like The Superior Labor is looking to deliver the entire package. Their socks are hand made from thick polyester polyurethane in Japan and with the utmost care. The colorways are phenomenal as well as they will surely add some color to your muted winter ensembles.
Linda Farrow Luxe features some outstanding eyewear and proves the designer’s ability to not only craft timeless eyewear pieces on a consistent basic but to actually follow through with luxurious details and packaging as well. These round acetate optical frames are a great look and happen to be made in Japan with the utmost care.
Outside Japan, we don’t see Beams Plus hit many stockists and if they do, American buyers are usually shit out of luck. Sweden shop Tres Bien has taken stock of the Japanese brand’s Spring 2011 offerings so you should head over there to see what’s still up for grabs. Some of the pieces worth checking out include the double breasted blazer with polka dot detailing as well as the hooded “Alligator” parka that’s based on an old coat from US-bran Alligator that was around in the 50-60s.

Looks for F/W ‘11 from a plethora of brands have hit our inbox as of late but Spellbound’s offerings next winter really stood out from the pack. The Japanese label’s known for its well-crafted denim and there’s no shortage in this collection. The pieces are faded to perfection but that’s something we’ve come to expect from them, amiright?
