Netflix has officially unveiled their streaming service for the United Kingdom and Ireland, giving access to the company’s massive catalog of entertainment for 5.99 pounds / 6.99 euros a month. Residents can queue for a one month free trial at the website right now, and at launch it works not only on PCs, but also the usual suite of game consoles, Blu-ray players from LG, Samsung Smart TV, iOS and Android phones plus smart TV adaptors from Philips, Western Digital and Roku.

Content is being sourced from All3Media, the BBC, CBS, Channel 4′s 4oD, Disney UK & Ireland, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International Media Networks.

iTunes Match Now Available

iTunes Match Now Available

Apple has released iTunes 10.5.1 which brings along a few minor fixes but also gives users access to iTunes Match, a feature in iTunes that users can subscribe to for $24.99 annually. It’s listed as a beta feature, and beta subscribers are warned that their iCloud libraries will be deleted at the end of the beta. To thank beta testers for their participation, Apple is offering them an additional three months on their subscription.

By now, the App Store has been flooded with tons of remote control apps but none may be as interesting as Teevox. If you’re one lazy mofo, then let this app control your Hulu or Netflix shows streaming on your computer. Just pick the show you want to play from the list and it’ll begin streaming on your PC. While playing, you can do everything you could with a mouse as well as some added features that might make your whole show watching experience a bit more amusing. Mashable tells us the app even allows you to, “Participate in live show-based chats with other viewers, see what your friends are watching and earn pink stars (part of Teevox’s reward system) for app behaviors that you can exchange for reputation goodies like a new Teevok title.”

That was pretty quick, I just got an email from Netflix saying my Instant Streaming Disc for PS3 should be arriving tomorrow! I’ve been encouraged to add movies and shows to my instant Queue. The email also had an ad for the PlayStation Store. Both Netflix and Sony see Netflix on PS3 as a non-competing service and we’d have to agree.

Look out for yours if you’ve already reserved it!

The National Basketball Associaton is set to drop a few apps that will allow fans to watch games live on their mobile devices. NBA League Pass Mobile will be coming to the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android phones starting Friday, leaving Blackberry waiting in the wings. It won’t be cheap as the app will cost $39.99 and will let users watch up to 40 live games per week. Local blackout rules will still apply. The app also gives the option to watch some games on demand for up to two days later, plus game alerts and live stats. (via Crave)

With all the rumors flying around, it was actually becoming harder and harder to believe. Worry not, friends as the deal is legit, with both parties chiming in. With the help of an Instant Streaming Blu-ray Disc, you’ll be able to activate the service which will get you all the movies you can handle for $8.99, matching a similar service Netflix has set up for Xbox360 fanboys.

Hulu is looking to take a piece of that pie that Windows Media Center, Netflix, Boxee and all those other set ups were eating so casually. Now, Hulu Desktop is sure to change the media streaming spectrum by providing a sleek, sharp interface that’s compatible with Mac & PC six button remotes. So what sets it apart from the rest? Well, it’s got Time-Based browsing that allows you to sort programming from when it first aired as well as a Recommendations section that takes in to account what you’ve recently watched.

Guess Hulu Labs, the site’s experiment division, is getting off on the right foot.
