The Unfinished Clock by Thelermont & Hupton [Design]

Unfinished Clock by Thelermont and Upton

Designed by Yve Thelermont and David Hupton in 2006, these wonderfully designed clocks have made their way to the MoMA Store. The clocks are made of powder-coated steel fitted with aluminum hands. “This atypical version of a typical clock is designed to be displayed at the edge of a shelf or mantel. Eye-catching, it appears to be only the top half of a clock, but the hands fully rotate.”

‘The Pictures Generation’ at The Metropolitan Museum of Art [Andy Warhol Foundation]

The Pictures Generation at MoMA

Now until August 2nd, “The Pictures Generation,” will be on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The show features works from post-WWII America, with much inspiration drawn from films, television, magazines and advertising. These artists used representational forms to illustrate the media’s influence on individuals and society as a whole. A decade of artwork from 1974 to 1984 is covered, when movements like feminism and gay rights were coming to the forefront and challenging social constructs.

All-in-all, there are 160 works from all media outlets from thirty artists. The exhibition is made possible by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and The Andy Warhol Foundation.

MoMA’s newly redesigned website

moma-website-redesign-2009

MoMA has redesigned its website and added some much-appreciated features such as a blog, interactive content, and more dynamic online galleries. I have to say though that no online tour can ever match making a trip to the actual museum.

Check out the website here.

Hot dog vendor buys rights to MoMA corner for $362,201

authentic-new-york-hot-dog-vendor-cart-1

Property values in Manhattan are showing no signs of falling, and that includes those lucrative corners for vendors. I personally fancy that little spot over on 53rd and 6th that serves one delicious lamb and rice combo.

Pasang Sherpa is a hot dog vendor that just paid $362,201 for the food-vending rights for the north entrance of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He paid $81,701 more than what he paid for the south entrance when MoMA auctioned off the sales rights to two of its corners.
