We Are Hunted seems to be the new Billboard chart, just in a more indepth and web 2.0 way. The new “Online Music Chart” apparently hunts social networks, blogs, twitter and other various sources of information to determine the top 99 tracks making their way around the internet. Who looks at record sales nowadays anyway, amiright? Side note — I wonder how Chester French is ranking.

Music for the past few years has been pretty bland. My playlists include work from an array of genres from an array of time periods so I’m not biased towards one or another. For some reason though, I think the value of music is about to astronomically increase when new kids on the block, Chester French, release their debut album, Love the Future, this Tuesday (April 21st). We briefly reported on the band not too long ago when they were featured in Vanity Fair.
We had the chance to download and actually listen to their mixtape, Jacques Jams Vol. 1 in its entirety and we were blown away. Although we expected raw goodness from the CF x Clinton Sparks collaboration, we did not expect it to be this good. Chester French’s following is growing and with the backing of Pharrell and Star Trak, we see the duo taking music to a new level. Clinton put it best — they’re like a mixture of Outkast and The Beatles. Yes, they’re that good. So on Tuesday, consider “endurance” achieved when they begin climb on the billboard charts. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Originally released in the summer of ’89, almost everything rode on Paul’s Boutique. Coming off of the success Licensed To Ill, everybody from fans to critics figured nothing could top the band’s debut, and counted on them being one-hit wonders. Twenty years later, this epic album (still as hilarious, contagious and game-changing as ever) has been re-mastered under the band’s supervision, all in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary.
Available here on 180-gram vinyl, complete with faithfully-restored artwork and access to a free digital download including a track-by-track commentary by the band, discussing each song over the music.r.

Known for their pen-based graphic tablets and touchscreens, Wacom has designed their first product tailored to DJs. With the recession, I’m guessing Wacom still thinks the show must go on. With the wireless Nextbeat music controller, professional and casual digital dee-jays can spin tracks from anywhere. The Nextbeat features a unique docking wireless control pod which lets you roam and control sounds loaded onto the Nextbeat base station.

Apple’s unveiled the new iPod Shuffle — half the size of its predecessor but boy does it pack a punch. The 4GB iPod Shuffle features VoiceOver technology, which enables the Shuffle to speak your song titles, artists and playlist names. There’s no screen, as the new kid on the block is wrapped in a new aluminum case in silver or black. Plus, it’s got a built-in stainless steel clip for maximum wearability.
Did we mention it’s available now?

Out now is U2 latest album entitled, No Line on the Horizon. Billboard’s call it an experimental fare, explaining why the album’s been getting such mixed reviews. The band’s launched a promotional blitz just in time for the album drop.
They are performing on David Letterman five times this week and they’re getting much more love from the city of New York. Mayor Michael Bloomberg is temporarily renaming part of West 53rd Street “U2 Way”. The street leads to Ed Sullivan Theater where The David Letterman Show is recorded. (more…)
