Essential | Edward Classic Long Coat [Duckie Brown x Odin New York]

Essential | Edward Classic Long Coat [Duckie Brown x Odin New York]

I recently had the chance to visit Colin, manager of Odin New York‘s SoHo location. The man really knows alot about the shop’s offerings and the men’s market in general. I got a wiff of Odin’s lineup of fragrances, including their newest addition to the stable, 04 Petrana. Plenty of boxes were being cracked open as fall lines had begun making their way into the store. Colin showed off a few items from the Florsheim x Duckie Brown collaboration as well as Burkman Brothers’ finest pieces. Though I felt like a kid in a candy shop, I couldn’t help but to gravitate towards this well-crafted long coat on sight.

For anyone not familiar, Edward is a made-in-USA collaboration between Duckie Brown and Odin New York. We’re talking clean designs and the utilization of some top-notch fabrics. This wool coat plays the tune really well, as it’s versatile, well-crafted and will surely be a go-to piece in your fall wardrobe. The enticing price point is just icing on the cake.

Introducing | M Tokyo Japan by Mitsuo

Introducing M Tokyo Japan by Mitsuo

I’ve come across some great brands since I began doing this and I honestly believe reporting on new labels that are starting off on the right foot is as exciting for me as it is for anyone reading. Don’t worry, I wont get emo on you guys (this time) and start pouring my heart out like I just won an Emmy. Back to business, folks.

We’d like to turn you guys to M Tokyo Japan, a label designed by keen mountaineer Mitsuo and manufactured using traditional techniques in a small workshop in Japan. To give you an idea of some of the old school tactics — natural dyed cotton is washed in the rivers by the workshop and dried under the sun on the riverbeds before being put into production. We’re not familiar with many designers that practice this ancient Japanese tradition.

With this fall collection being M Tokyo Japan’s first, we’re expecting them to continue delivering well-constructed pieces that are as functional as they are appealing for years to come. Some highlight pieces include a tweed hunting jacket with patches on the elbow and right shoulder as well as a mountain parka. These and other item’s from M’s rookie offerings can be found at Garbstore.

Essential: Nigel Cabourn Mallory Jacket [Fall 2010]

Essential: Nigel Cabourn Mallory Jacket [Fall 2010]

Nigel Cabourn‘s Mallory jacket goes in the “must-have” category, simply because you probably won’t find a better cut, more refined blazer made from Harris Tweed Herringbone for the fall. The shoulders and elbows are externally lined with an olive ventile fabric for added protection from whatever nature throws at you. Beyond the aesthetic appeal and enhanced functionality of this blazer, we think it’s also important to note this item was crafted using antique Japanese manufacturing techniques, which nowadays, seem like a dying trend.

Reyn Spooner Paradise Traveler [Fall 2010]

Reyn Spooner Paradise Traveler Shirt [Fall 2010]

While it may begin to cool here in the Northeast, don’t forget that there are still hotspots across the globe that could use the pieces Reyn Spooner has to offer next season. For the fall, the Paradise Traveler shirt is upgraded with a lightweight corduroy fabric, which, to be honest, can be worn anywhere. It works effortlessly as a mid-layer addition to any wardrobe and grabbing it in a neutral finish like navy (shown above) will help to keep it relevant a bit longer.

Look for this and other fine products from Reyn Spooner’s Fall Holiday 2010 lineup at fine retailers as well as ReynSpooner.com.
