Later this month, some of the finest designers the World-over will set their sights on Paris, showcasing their work for the Fall/Winter 2012 season. Milan plenty of notable labels on display but Paris does not shy away from the spotlight. We got hints of this a while back but Kris Van Assche has finally unveiled his short film, “A Moment in Time”. It’s directed by Joost Vandebrug and was presented a few days back at the launch of LONDERZEEL number 2 during Paris Fashion Week. The short film represents the easy going feel of Kris Van Assche’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection by telling a story of two old friends that reconnect at a bar after sometime apart.

Danish-born designer Henrik Vibskov presented a great collection in Paris this past week, proving once again that minimalist design should not be overlooked. The pieces were wearable across an array of styles with muted color patterns taking center stage instead of the bright offerings of seasons past.

For his own private label, Kris Van Assche put the show on the shoulders of his suiting and well-cut shirting. Pieces ranged in styles from pinstripes to sleeveless and were accompanied by cropped trousers and colorful polos.

The Spring 2012 runway show for Dries Van Noten was a tremendous success in Paris as the designer showed a strong collection, headlined by utilization of waterproof fabrics. Standout colors from the palette included midnight blue and burgundy alongside some brighter colors as well. We’re sure all eyes are on the outerwear pieces as they really left a mark of their own.

We’d like to turn you to one of the most wearable collections from Paris Fashion Week. Maison Martin Margiela’s Spring 2012 collection was amazing to say the least as the styling was a perfect mix of modern and timeless. Shades of blue and red filled the stage but there was a healthy amount of neutrals like black and white to even the playing field.

Kris Van Assche delivers another splendid collection for Dior Homme, this time going with a more minimalist approach. Clean staples like high-waisted trousers, double-breasted blazers and button-down shirts were offered up mainly in black and white but beige and shades of blue made their way into the show as well.

Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was one of the finest from this past week’s Paris shows and with good reason. Head designer Alber Elbaz went for a more masculine collection this time around with standout pieces ranging from leather shirts and stiffer fabrics to more structured outerwear, jackets and blazers. We’re really digging the print’s in Yohji Yamamoto’s Spring 2012 collection as stripes and polka dots are pinned against florals and several other shapes to give the pieces some character and definition. There’s much to appreciate from Yohji’s collection this time around like patterned knits and Nehru-collared button-downs as well as the form-fitting outerwear, silk tops and traditionally-printed trousers.

New York designer Thom Browne brought out his Spring 2012 collection in Paris, showcasing some interesting styling and an amazing line of well-crafted suiting. Pinstriped suits with trousers hitting right at the ankle were featured heavily but that’s expected from Mr. Browne now, isn’t it?
