Alexander Wang drops this double breasted pea coat for F/W 2012. The coat’s got an all-black wool shell with asymmetric paneling which Wang dubs “shattered patchwork”. Key areas of the coat are also fitted with leather detailing. Expect the fine details to go along way with the top-level craftsmanship we’ve come to expect from Alexander Wang. This coat can be had through RESTIR in Japan as well as other select retailers.
Golden Bear and San Francisco’s Unionmade team up once again, this time for the Bodega pea coat. It comes in navy and red, both with contrasting elbow patches and full grain leather trim. They’re made in San Fran’s Potrero Hill with the utmost attention to detail. More looks below.
Unionmade’s collaborative efforts with fellow Bay Area resident Golden Bear continues with this impeccably crafted pea coat. It’s a traditionally styled double breasted pea coat with leather bound pockets and a button collar closure. The best thing about this pea coat is the fit. They’ve trimmed it down to take away the boxy appearance we’re used to seeing with pea coats.

Who better to craft a down-filled pea coat than Junya Watanabe? This impressive outerwear piece features a black quilted water resistant puff exterior with down filling. The details are immense, with wool plaid flannel under the collar, a double breasted button front closure and black corduroy detailing on front pockets. The time dedicated to making each of one of these in Japan must have been extensive, because crafting something this special requires lots of it.

I asked what kind of style he was looking for and he proceeded to tell me something I had already known about him. “I’m a pea coat kinda guy.” Well, duh. I mentally canceled out many parkas and whatnot that have been floating in my head as of late. I dug a bit deeper and suggested a few different ones for him to go and try on. Options. Now, here’s yours.
Saint James is known for their seashore appeal and hitting the seas in the winter is much colder than most New York visits at the same time. The Galion pea coat takes this into consideration and the 100% pure melton wool shell does a tremendous job insulating, whether you’re off the coast of France or walking down Broadway.
