To coincide with the release of the Men’s Spring 2013 collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim has dropped an exclusive short film featuring the undiscovered art of “Tricking.” A collaborative effort between 3.1 Phillip Lim and fashion photographer Jacob Sutton, the video showcases the Spring 2013 Men’s collection in flight, on real life battling ‘Trickers’ Jason Mello and Micah Karns. For those not familiar, Tricking is a combination of gymnastics, martial arts, and b-boying. The moves require several different disciplines such as taekwondo and kung fu and push the boundaries of creativity in what the physical body can do.

The collection itself pulls inspiration from Barroco and Nipo-Brasileiro sub-cultures and interprets traditional Baroque with a youthful perspective of luxury and artisanal value. Expect strong lines, playful textures and youthful elegance.

New York-based designer Phillip Lim began 3.1 as a women’s line in 2005 and branched out into menswear in 2007, and is now known for his well-tailored basics. The designer delivers some real must-haves for Spring 2012 with his outerwear pieces and double-breasted suit jackets.

If you haven’t heard yet, Opening Ceremony is getting set for the launch of their second NYC location inside the Ace Hotel. The location will play host to one long list of collaborations, including this lineup of accessories by Phillip Lim. “This multi-use super soft blanket works as a shawl to sport while you’re waiting for your taxi, a blanket to cozy up to at the terminal gate, a hooded cape to keep off the in-flight chills, and wraps up into a pillow to snuggle with (hopefully you got the window seat).” He’s even thrown in an eye mask for good measures.
