For this month’s issue of GQ, the magazine brought on famed photographer Terry Richardson to bring out Christian Bale’s intriguing personality. When Mr. Richardson is behind the lens, the outcome can be tremendously fascinating. Apart from giving us some loud imagery, Christian Bale also spoke about his tantrum with the sound guy on the set of Terminator: Salvation.

My how times have changed from the 1930s and ’40s. Steam iron collector Jay Raymond has published a book, Streamlined Irons, that features 300 color photos mostly of irons from the “streamlined” 1930s and ’40s. Thirty of the earliest electric irons made in North America are also pictured, dating from 1890 to 1915. There are some rare pieces shown, some of which are one-of-a-kind. The book also includes four essays: a concise history of electric irons in the U.S.A., two essays on the subject of streamlining, and a fascinating history of the first entrepreneur to produce an electric iron in the United States, Charles E. Photographer Annie Leibovitz got behind the lens for Louis Vuitton’s 2009 Core Values (via ilvoelv), an ad campaign with the message, “Some journeys change mankind forever”. Louis Vuitton Core Values ad campaign celebrates the greatest journey of all, the latest commemorating the 40th anniversary of man’s conquest of the Moon.
Buzz Aldrin, Jim Loveli, and Sally Ride are featured in the campaign, bringing light to three exceptional figures whose own remarkable personal journeys have taken them into space. Buzz Aldrin was part of Apollo 11 with Neil Armstrong, and became the second man to step foot on the moon. Sally Ride is the first woman in space and Jim Loveli was a commander in Apollo 13. (more…)
