Adam Bartos: Los Angeles

Adam Bartos: Los Angeles [Photography]

So as I’m in the midst of planning a short getaway to the West Coast, which seems to be the norm these days, I looked for inspiration. Photographer Adam Bartos has a great set of shots that highlight LA during what looks like the late 80s and early 90s. No bright lights or anything, as his focus seemed to be more towards suburbia and the smaller community instead.

Steve McQueen: LIFE Magazine Presents 20 Never-Seen-Before Photos by John Dominis

With today marking what would have been Steve McQueen’s 80th birthday, LIFE dug into their vault to find a roll of film that captured the King of Cool back in the spring of ’63. At the time, McQueen a few months from releasing one of his best films, The Great Escape, and was still being praised for his role in The Magnificent Seven. “LIFE sent photographer John Dominis to California to hang out with the 33-year-old actor and see what he could get. Three weeks and more than 40 rolls of film later, Dominis had captured some astonishingly intimate and iconic images, photos impossible to imagine in today’s restricted-access celebrity world.”

The Selby is in your place: The Book

The Selby is in your place: The Book

Fashion and interiors photographer Todd Selby has book coming out and it’s definitely worth grab. The Selby is in your place was conceived when he began taking portraits of dynamic and creative people—authors, musicians, artists, and designers—in their home environments and posting them on his web site. That lead to him picking out an eclectic group of subjects including Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler, Faris Rotter, Andre Walker, and Olivier Zahm. All were captured in their private spaces, which happen to stretch from New York to London to Tokyo and few other high-level travel destinations. Amazon writes:

Each profile is accompanied by Selby’s watercolor portraits of the subjects and objects from their homes, and illustrated questionnaires, which Selby asks each sitter to fill out. This book consists of over thirty profiles, many of which have never-before-seen, selected exclusively for the book. The result is a collection of unique spaces bursting with energy and personality that together create a colorful hodgepodge of inspirational interiors.

The book is available for pre-order now through Amazon.

Andrew Stetson x Ivan Otis for Cheek Magazine

The Fashionisto turns us to a recent editorial featured in Cheek magazine which was captured by fashion photographer Ivan Otis. “Andrew [Stetson] is outfitted by Rohan Sajnani in a wardrobe fit for any modern man. An easy standout among the labels featured is the work of Canadian designer Philip Sparks. Sparks manages to interject suiting with a modern perspective that does not take away from a classic, but instead refines it, providing for a refreshing alternative.”
