Suitsupply has just opened another US store, this time setting up shop in The City of Brotherly Love. Located in Rittenhouse Square, the setup takes over an 84-year-old former hotel in the heart of Philly, bringing out everything we’ve come to expect from the European clothier. Philadelphia is known to have an eclectic sense of style which will play well for a brand that looks to deliver timeless pieces with modern twists and unparalleled quality and detail.
Timing is perfect as Suitsupply’s also just dropped a lot of their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The focus this season is on rich hues and bold textures with Indigo-colored wool, linen and silk fortifying the lineup. Other standouts include denim shirts and double-breasted suits with a color palette that stretches out to burnt orange, faded red, and ochre-accented colors.
Suitsupply Philadelphia is open for business and we’re looking forward to making a visit. For our Delaware Valley readers, head on over to 1601 Locust and let us know your thoughts.

The Steven Alan Home Shop is now open in the New York neighborhood of Tribeca. The team worked with folks at Fort Standard to transform their old office space, and brought in items from Steven Alan himself as well as some of the team’s favorite vendors, from cookware to frozen foods. Steven Alan also teamed up with local furniture designer Jason Pickens on a limited line of made-to-order sofas and even collaborated with Brooklyn Glass on a collection of glassware.
The Steven Alan Home Shop is now open at 158 Franklin Street.

Aether has opened the doors to their first-ever stand alone retail store, AETHERsf. Located in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley, and constructed from three 8‘ x 9.6‘ x 40’ shipping containers, AETHERsf is the brainchild of Thierry Gaugain (designer behind AETHERstream), envelope a+d, and AETHER’s founders, Jonah Smith and Palmer West. The AETHER concept store features a custom glassencased cantilevered lounge, reclaimed oak floors, and a third floor conveyor system which interacts with the customers needs on the first floor. What’s most impressive is that all design partners were locally sourced in San Francisco.
AETHERsf will carry a wide range of men’s and women’s outerwear.

WWD is reporting Thom Browne is gearing up to open his first store outside of the U.S. in mid-March of next year. Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama district will be home to a 4,500-square-foot Japanese flagship store that will be in close proximity to the likes of Prada, Comme des Garcons, Undercover, and others. Not only with the split-level store have the brand’s men’s and women’s collections, but there will also be a special area for made-to-measure. Interior design firm Wonderwall is leading the charge here and we’re expecting great success as their past projects have included many high-end shops including Colette in Paris.
“We’re really excited about the store both as a way to boost an already strong business in Asia and as an image statement,” Browne said on Wednesday from Milan, where he was working on the Moncler Gamme Bleu collection to be shown in January.

The space features all the latest WIP offerings including all collaborative efforts currently on deck. The shop’s design is refreshing as wooden panels throughout give us a glimpse into key events that have occurred throughout Carhartt’s history, including the brand’s establishment in 1889 and the creation of Work in Progress in ’94. Look for Carhartt WIP product to be available through the Milan flagship and other select stockists.
