As Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen continues to hit retail shelves for S/S ’13, the designer has taken the liberty of putting together some looks on location in his hometown of Los Angeles, highlighting different themes within the collection. And that’s one thing we’ve always appreciated about Shades of Grey – the brand’s ability to deliver a cohesive, yet versatile product lineup consistently season over season. For the current season, you’ll see the “Expect the Unexpected” image set shed light on the collection’s rich mix of patterns, layering options and bring spring colors that inspired the collection — tie dyes, ikats, bandana prints, tees under suits and more.
Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen presented their F/W 2013 collection earlier today and not only did we get a chance to check out the label’s men’s collection, but today also marked the debut of its women’s collection. Micah looked to infuse the philosophy behind the Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen men’s line and translate it into a women’s collection. As for the men’s offerings, expect Cohen’s signature slim suiting, athletic-inspired knits and outerwear including baseball jackets and boiled wool overcoats. Taking a cue from his S/S ’13 collection, Cohen included more color than in previous fall collections, in rich autumnal colorblocking seen throughout.
Here, you’ll find all the men’s looks from the Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen F/W 2013 Presentation as well as a few of our favorite women’s looks.
Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen presented their Fall 2012 collection during this week’s New York Fashion Week, once again delivering staple items with some really amazing detailing. Look for outstanding outerwear alongside suiting in warm fabrics. The color palette is strong as well with neutral colors dominating and a few shots of color throughout to give the collection some edge.
Another collaborative effort between Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen and Ronnie Fieg, this chocolate and tweed baseball jacket is the second from the duo. The details are immense yet minimalistic, with premium cotton fabric shell and tweed sleeves, as well as stuffed quilted lining for added warmth. The jacket is limited to 42 pieces and will be available at Kithnyc.com today (Friday) at 11am EST.
Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen happens to be one of our favorite labels right now as the designer offers up wearable pieces at an affordable price point time and time again. They’ve teamed up with Ronnie Fieg’s new store, Kith, to make this cotton baseball jacket that features a navy body with sleeves and pocket detailing that match Fieg’s “Salmon Toe” ASICS. Only 54 jackets were made and will release on September 30 at 11 am EST to coincide with the release of the “Salmon Toe” ASICS. 24 of the pieces will be available in-store at Kith, while the remaining 30 will be up for grabs online at kithnyc.com. It’s priced at $220 USD.
Back in 2006, Micah Cohen was not too far removed from finishing up at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in California when he decided to launch Shades of Greige. I’m sure many of you are familiar with the label, as it’s been carried by many notable shops ranging from Oak and Bloomies in New York to Stadium in Japan to Need Supply and ssense of online fame. In 2009, Micah launched SHADES of GREY by Micah Cohen to deliver a brand that would represent his design philosophy completely.
Long story short, the line’s been well-received and I personally love what the LA product is doing. The pieces are never too flashy nor are they ever too subtle. They always have the right hint of timeless appeal, something that seldom goes unnoticed by guys like me.
Look for SHADES of GREY at fine retail shops worldwide, including Urban Outfitters.com and Atrium of New York.
