Soles for Souls at Blackbird

Blackbird’s just brought light to something I think deserves some attention. It is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in their closets. We outgrow some and some become outdated, and for some reason, we’re just too lazy to do something with them. Well, that should change starting now.

Blackbird will be collecting gently worn footwear for the charity Soles4Souls, which ships the shoes to people in need. As a special incentive on December 12th Blackbird will trade 40% off any full priced shoe purchase when you bring in your old shoes.

F/W 08: Puma Rudolf Dassler Hesselberg

Last month, we covered Puma’s collaboraton with Alexander McQueen for the Puma AMQ collection.  Well, Puma has much more in store for you guys as far as amazing clothing and footwear goes.  Puma also has another upscale line called Rudolf Dassler, named after Puma’s original founder.

The collection’s filled with shoes and tops that dazzle and intrigue our every senses.  The Hesselberg in warm-black on warm-black is one of the most unique pair of shoes we’ve seen.  The textile and leather upper really mate well, giving us a taste of modern fashion perfection with a drop of timeless style.

I actually already grabbed a pair, hence the reason I felt compelled to gloat tell you about how amazingly comfortable and unique the Hesselberg truly is.  The Hesselberg’s available in two colors:  warm-black on warm-black or gray-bronze.  Check out the stock images below!

Fall/Winter 08: Adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto

October 2002 seems like a lifetime ago.  That was when Adidas and Japanese fashion designer first announced their collaboration efforts to create Y-3.  The evolution of the collection has always proven to be cutting edge, from the Y-3 Bball sneakers from a few seasons ago to what they’ve released for the 2008 fall/winter collection.  There are just some things that we’d rather not explain, because words won’t do it justice.

This collection is one of those things.  Check out the Ikuno shoe, Black Honja high top, and Zippered sneaker boot below.  The double hoodie’s one piece we can’t wait to get our hands.  Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think.  Oak NYC has already gotten the collection.  Head to adidas.com to see the full list of retailers.

WTF: Fur sneakers by Miharaya Suhiro for F/W 08

We like creativity, just as much as the next chap, but there’s a line that needs to be drawn when it comes to menswear.  Miharaya Suhiro is known for his current work with Puma and has shown off some pieces for his own collection.

They’re half Chucks and half Lord-knows what.  We’re pretty split about the shoes too.  We respect creativity and the not-so norm aspirations of many designers, but as far as wearing these, guess fur on sneakers is an acquired taste.  Check out the close-ups below and let us know what you think.
