Filson has opened their first store outside of the Pacific Northwest, and it’s in London. Located on Newburgh Street in the city’s SoHo neighborhood, it will be the go-to shopping destination for Filson enthusiasts from around the world. Look for a solid lineup of classic Filson accessories and apparel, as well as vintage bags and store exclusives.
The Steven Alan Home Shop is now open in the New York neighborhood of Tribeca. The team worked with folks at Fort Standard to transform their old office space, and brought in items from Steven Alan himself as well as some of the team’s favorite vendors, from cookware to frozen foods. Steven Alan also teamed up with local furniture designer Jason Pickens on a limited line of made-to-order sofas and even collaborated with Brooklyn Glass on a collection of glassware.
The Steven Alan Home Shop is now open at 158 Franklin Street.

Carhartt and Italian streetwear label Slam Jam teamed up last year to open the Carhartt WIP store in Milan. The space features all the latest WIP offerings including all collaborative efforts currently on deck. The shop’s design is refreshing as wooden panels throughout give us a glimpse into key events that have occurred throughout Carhartt’s history, including the brand’s establishment in 1889 and the creation of Work in Progress in ’94. Look for Carhartt WIP product to be available through the Milan flagship and other select stockists.
So not to be outdone by the intense festivities taking place in New York City for FNO, Chicago’s Haberdash will be having an entertaining event of their own. Select pieces from the Red Wing historical archives will be on display, and complimentary tailoring will be available on all Levi’s Made & Crafted purchases. Representatives from both Red Wing Heritage and Levi’s Made & Crafted will also be available to speak with guests about each brand and its history.

Fashion’s Night Out 2012 is here and it’s bigger than ever, folks. We’re talking hundreds of in-store experiences happening throughout New York City. Union LA has taken their first delivery of footwear for the Fall 2012 season and, as you can see, they’re starting things off right. They’ve taken stock of a few high-in-demand Visvim pieces including the Grizzly Mid FOLK, Yucca Moc Mid, and FBT Shaman. Tomorrow, Billy Reid will be opening the doors to their first store in Austin, Texas. The store, located at 1122 West 6th, and is the designer’s third store in the Lone Star State. It embodies all things Reid while still taking much influence from the surrounding Old West Austin community. Antique furnishings and rustic wood tables are set against bright white painted walls, with eclectic sculptures from artist Butch Anthony hanging above. More shots below.
In a recent article from Motoramic, we learn white is currently the most popular exterior car color, a title held by silver for nearly a decade. Sandy McGill, BMW Designworks’ lead designer in color, materials, and finish, says Steve Jobs had a strong influence here. “Prior to Apple, white was associated with things like refrigerators or the tiles in your bathroom. Apple made white valuable.” And to think, I bought my car in white because I was being different but little did I know my subconscious love for Apple was driving the purchase.
The New York Times reports Rei Kawakubo is looking to open a DSM New York as the designer recently came to Manhattan to scope out a few different locations. With the multibrand Comme-owned stores already calling London and the Ginza district of Tokyo home, opening a space in New York is something a lot of folks have been anticipating. The New York DSM will be in an area where there are no other fashion stores in hopes of revamping the identity and culture of the area.
