Por Homme NYC Guide: Where to Shop [For Men]

NYC Guide: Where to Shop [For Men]

After plenty of sleepless workdays, we’ve finally assembled our list of top stores in New York City. We covered alot of ground, going from spots down by Bowery all the way up to Columbus Circle. Obviously, not each shop made it, as we’re trying to stay true to our principles. We’re here to deliver tailored content that’s relevant and worth the pixels so if the shop was great on aesthetics and horrible on service, that alone might have disqualified the shop. There aren’t any department stores mentioned because I’m assuming you all know what to expect when you go to Barney’s or Bloomingdale’s.

So that’s really about it, hit the link to check it out and just note that it will be continuously updated as other shops come out of the wood works. We’re also working on a guide for dining as well as one for going out, both for the city that never sleeps. If anyone’s interested in compiling a list for other cities, we’re certainly open to that. Don’t hesitate to get in touch. Enjoy!

Brooklyn Flea Winter Market Shifts Indoors to One Hanson Place

Brooklyn Flea Winter Market Shifts Indoors to One Hanson Place

What is usually an outdoors affair, Brooklyn Flea will be shifting to an indoors facility come January 9th. Destination: One Hanson Place, or the Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower, in Fort Green, Brooklyn. The space is a landmarked building that houses vaulted ceilings and tiled murals, as well as visual remnants of a bank, such as kiosks, teller rooms, and even a vault with three-ton doors. Only fitting it houses a well-known marketplace for trading vintage goods. “It’s a really amazing space that hasn’t been open to the public for a really long time,” says Brooklyn Flea founder Eric Demby. “I think it’s one of the most beautiful and historic interior spaces in Brooklyn.” The location allows for more than 100 vendors to operate, including food (Demby wants to have the eating area inside the vault). And the larger floor area makes it seem “more like the regular flea,” he adds, only it’s inside.

The Brooklyn Flea will be at One Hanson Place every weekend from January 9th ’til the end of March. (via The Cut)

Well, gents, the final weekend before the 25th is upon us. Introducing: Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction [Philadelphia]

Introducing: Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction [Philadelphia]

Holy mother of cheesesteaks, Philadelphia’s got a shop we’d usually only find in our favorite Manhattan neighborhoods. A Continuous Lean turns us to Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, the brainchild of Steve Grasse, the entrepreneur behind Gyro Mart and Root liquor. “Whether you’re searching for the newest Billykirk piece, new scents from CB I Hate Perfume or tobacco for your prized briar pipe, this shop has you covered. Nestled in Old City, this perfectly curated store brings a refreshing mix previously one might have needed to take the trip up to SoHo for. Art in the Age also has monthly art shows curated by another Philly staple, Space 1026.” Judging from the description, this may well be the best thing to hit Philly since Geno’s… or Pat’s? If you happen to be around 3rd and Arch, be sure to stop by and see what’s on display or on the shelves.

Back in Business: CircuitCity Relaunches Online Store

circuit-city-relaunch-online-store-systemax

We just got an email this morning notifying us of CircuitCity.com‘s return to the online shopping world. What to expect? Well, apparently there are “lower prices, new faster shipping, and world-class 24/7 ‘Customer First’ Service.” Last week, Circuit City, CircuitCity.com, and the old CC’s customer email list was all acquired by Systemax Inc., an electronics retailer that’s been in business since 1949. They’re also entering the social networking spectrum with links to their RSS feed, Twitter and Facebook.

There are some pretty good deals on there right now but check it out for yourselves and let us know what you think.

U.S. metro areas ranked by menswear spending: Austin, Texas ranks No. 1

austin_skyline_at_dusk

WWD has put out the following piece of raw data: The top ten U.S. metro areas, ranked by average household spending on men’s apparel. Austin’s on top with the Northern New Jersey-New York-Pennsylvania-Long Island area placing in 10th. I’m a bit surprised but I guess there are so many damn women shopping in NYC that all that money spent on luxe suits just can’t compete.
