Illustrated by Richard Haines of What I Saw Today, Unionmade’s Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook features a collection of eighteen friends in eighteen looks. 18 Friends/18 Looks features product from this season’s offerings in an eye-catching manner and provokes some thought in the process.
Ben Sherman Modern Classics division has been doing well since its initial launch just last year and with good reason. The product’s been well-designed and is extremely wearable. The collection’s dubbed “Modern Classics” for a reason as the pieces are timeless staples that will and should be worn for years to come.
The summer outerwear from the collection is looking great, with a blazer that’s crafted from selvedge cotton and is half chambray-lined and fitted with elbow patches and flapped pockets. There’s a matching Waistcoat added to the mix that’s just appealing. Both pieces are fitted with some fine details such as wooden button closures and are cut slimmer than your usual Ben Sherman product.
Warriors of Radness had a tremendous 2010 and it seems they’ve picked up right where they left off this year. We’ve gotten the word about their collaboration with Opening Ceremony for a capsule collection entitled, “Beach Crew!”. The collection features gear for both men and women and ranges in product from tank tops and t-shirts to crewneck sweaters and more.

We’re in May but have been getting hit with something gloomy weather. This light weight cotton parka style jacket from Wood Wood will deliver some assistance when the downpours hit again but won’t compromise design or wearability in the process. New York’s rag & bone has released this cotton day pack, giving us a great looking backpack to utilize on our day trips over the coming months. It features leather detailing and a large main compartment, giving us a shell that looks good and is usable as well.
If you’re in the market for a pair of shoes, Cole Haan’s current season collection is a great place to start looking. The label’s been really pushing the envelope as of late with some out-of-the-box designs. The most inspiring part of it all is that the styles are actually wearable. The shot above is a prime example of this and goes to show we can expect much more well-design product from Cole Haan in the near future.
From the Converse First String line comes the Johnny Weld Hi sneaker, a modern take on the iconic Jack Purcell kick. The shoe features shank detailing on the outsole as well as Bemis weld detailing, a technique used most commonly to seam-seal waterproof outerwear and outdoor tents. It’s also lined with terry cloth and is fitted with pinstripe detailing on the rubber midsole alonside the signature Jack Purcell smile.
